Alaska Birch Syrup & Wild Harvest: Shop

Came here on a whim while driving towards the downtown area and so glad we did. Prices were better than downtown for many items. The selection was well curated. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. It was also way more informative. I was happy to learn about all the birch trees we were driving by. The tasting was helpful because they are all so different.

We had a great time here learning by all about birch syrup. We took the tour which is $10, and learned about how it’s tapped, its yield, the production process and best of all we got to try the different ages of syrups. It is very similar to maple syrup in its process, but tastes more like molasses or palm syrup. We also had the icecream and the birch brittle icecream was the hands down favourite! Worth a visit. The tours are on the hour.

Nice little gift shop with wares from local vendors. One can sign up for the 45 minute tour of the birch processing, we chose to taste test the varieties of birch syrups they had available. Loved the darker more intense flavored syrup and purchased that. A lovely surprise was the birch ice cream, it tasted of root beer then molasses, would definitely purchase again!
