Brovado Barbershop

We went here yesterday for the first time and I don’t recommend. I can’t speak for all of the stylists and I don’t even know ours name because no one told us who it would be and she never introduced herself. I called around 2:30 pm. I informed the receptionist that my son is very particular and wanted a blowout taper. I asked who specifically does those often and she said I would be best off with Lindsay. I confirmed they were open to 7 and said I would be bringing him later. We arrived at 5:49. I told the girl at the at the desk we had spoke with someone and been told to walk in for Lindsay. Due to her schedule she was no longer taking walk-ins. I again reiterated that my son is very particular and I needed someone who is well versed in this particular style (and showed her the pic as well). She said okay, let me talk to who you may have talked to and figure out who to put you with. She goes to the back, we sit down. No one says anything else to us about who will be doing his hair but I did notice that the girl that would end up doing his hair came up and switched tickets with someone else (who had the ticket of an older gentleman) and then called my son. So I don’t think it was the doing of the receptionist but the stylist switching as to why we got a different person than we should have. All of that to say, his hair did not turn out well or anything like the pictures provided to the stylist. It is choppy with harsh lines. No texturizing or point cutting was done to achieve the textured/blowout look the pictures had. Just blunt cutting. She didn’t even speak to me or my son unless spoken to or to tell him to look a certain way (which obviously isn’t a requirement, it just makes for a nicer experience). I also asked her to go very low on the fade because his hair grows very quickly, which she didn’t do. She also didn’t offer to help him style it at all or suggest any products for that style. I had to ask at the front (we ended up buying the sea salt spray which didn’t help at all because it’s just not textured enough and too heavy to achieve the look). I told her that he likes to keep all his length in the front and she cut it anyways which he’s most upset about. All around just very disappointed that I spent $65 in total but $52 dollars on a 12 year olds haircut that turned out the way it did. She asked my son if he liked it and he agreed. Though particular, he’s non confrontational and just goes with the flow. I didn’t address it and maybe I should have but I don’t like embarrassing people and there were a lot of people around. Even if I talked low, it would have been noticed. I just take my losses and move on, it’s not like it can be fixed now. You can’t add hair back unfortunately. But I did feel like the experience needed to be shared. He’s very disappointed and says his hair is “chopped”. The first two pics are his hair before. 5 STARS FOR SYD!!! Amazing work and a personality that makes you feel comfortable in the chair. Syd used to be the only person to cut my hair (she now lives 1.5 hours away as I am in Gloucester) and I can't say anything negative about her charisma and professionalism. Truly skilled and a pleasure to be around. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
