Addendum: Thank you for responding to my review. I feel it’s important to clarify a few points regarding the management of this particular build. Your statement about the material staging being, “Managed deliberately to align with the engineer drainage plan of useful standards”, Doesn’t quite align with the reality we, as neighbors, observed, and the actions take by the Department of Environmental Quality. The DEQ did, in fact, attempt to reach out to you multiple times regarding compliance issues, which ultimately led to the matter being escalated to another department due to the lack of timely response. This active involvement from environmental regulators suggest the site management was not consistently meeting the necessary standards. My observations, and those of our neighbors, directly pointed to issues with the silt fencing. While I recognize that heavy rain can overwhelm even well maintained barriers, this only reinforces the need for more aggressive and consistent management. We witnessed silt fencing being diligently maintained and effective only when the driveway was about to be installed…clearly demonstrating that a higher standard of management was achievable throughout the project. Had this level of diligence been applied consistently from the beginning, many of the problems with mud and dirt runoff into our yards and road could have been significantly mitigated. Furthermore, the unusually large pile of red clay dirt remain on site for months. Transferring this material to another one of your nearby sites, even temporarily, would’ve greatly reduced the runoff issues we experienced. We notice partial removal to the other site, but unfortunately, not enough material was transferred. It’s also note worthy the significant increase in positive views for your company that appeared shortly after my and other less favorable reviews were posted. In just one month, your company’s reviews almost doubled, which feels like a concentrated effort to dilute legitimate concerns raised by actual neighbors and former clients. In fact, following my review, a previous client of yours even took the time to find me and share their own experience, describing the building process with your company as, ‘terrible’. This client relayed paying of out-of-pocket almost 40k to fix what they were told by you was, ‘industry standard’. This anecdote, alongside other’s experiences, the DEQ’s involvement, and our neighborhood’s observations, paint a consistent picture that goes beyond isolated incidents or unavoidable weather challenges. While I in no way, want to convey that all of your life’s work has been negative or terrible, I do want to convey to you that I believe there is a good deal of room for improvement. My decision to file a complaint was not taken lately; Over 50 years of observing countless construction sites, this is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to file a complaint. This isn’t just about my personal opinion; It’s about the impact on our properties and public areas, and the official involvement of environmental protection agencies. I hope that in future projects, which I see will be in our neighborhood as well, there will be greater emphasis on proactive and consistent environmental management to prevent similar issues for our and other communities. We live here, we love it here, and we care about our neighbors and our homes. Original review: Months on end construction of a home in our neighborhood without adequate silt fencing. Heaps of red mud have been leaking from their site and into adjacent ditches and our newly paved road (that we as members collectively paid for). There is an unusually sized mound of dirt that has been sitting on the lot for an extended amount of time causing much of the issue. Some members finally filed a complaint with state, with the issue only partially resolved-continued silt on our street and ditches full of red mud. We have never had such problems of this magnitude in our neighborhood from other builders. Do no recommend.
