I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received from Auto Station in Burlington. Due to my demanding work schedule, and being that this was the first shop i called that was local, I required assistance and contacted them for support. I informed the service advisor of my suspicion regarding the purge solenoid located under the hood, which had been replaced recently and may be defective. They quoted a maximum diagnostic charge of $325, or potentially less if they prioritized the inspection of the specified component. However, they ultimately charged me the full $325. My vehicle was kept for an extended period, nearly a day and a half, for a diagnostic test that lasted approximately 10 minutes or less for something that was easily accessible to remove and replace via 3 screws. The outcome confirmed my initial suspicion - the purge solenoid was indeed defective. On a positive note, they provided a loaner vehicle, a Pontiac G6. However, the vehicle had several issues, including a dirty interior, unpleasant odor, malfunctioning radio, dim headlights due to worn-out lenses, mismatched and ineffective windshield wipers, inoperable lighter ports - couldn’t charge my cell phone, and a clunking noise emanating from the front driver's side when turning or driving over bumps. The heating system functioned well, though. The total bill exceeded $800, including parts and labor. I strongly believe the cost of the purge solenoid, $425, was excessive, especially considering I was informed it was an original Mazda equipment part, which I know typically costs around $200 at part source. Although the receipt does not specify 'OE,' I feel somewhat misled. As someone familiar with vehicle repairs, I couldn't help but feel that I was overcharged. I do not intend to return to Auto Station or recommend their services to friends and family. It appears that this transaction resulted in an easy profit for the business. A rating of 2 stars is generous, considering I was not impressed with the experience from a mechanic shop that took advantage of a simple fix, even though it was I who diagnosed the problem myself and informed them about it well in advance.

I took my 2014 Hyundai Elantra to them to be repaired as it was having transmission issues and they recommended a full replacement, which makes sense considering the age and history of the car. Unfortunately the work was going to be a lot (well within the cost of a new transmission etc) so I just took the car back. They didn't even charge me for the diagnostic fee and time it took to give me a diagnosis on the vehicle so that speaks volumes about integrity. The owner is a lovely person and their staff really do care and want to help.
