Sainsbury's Café

Popped in here as my friend only live down the road and I was staying in Newport for the weekend. My friend ordered an all day breakfast, she said her was lovely not greasy really nice and her red label tea was lovely. I had scone with cream and apricot and earl grey tea which was stunning and only £2.75 filed by tuna jacket potato which was delicious proper oven cooked jacket. I was hesitant coming here after reading some reviews but the food was lovely only £7.25 for mine in total and considering it’s only a supermarket cafe I was very impressed. The staff were all friendly, helpful and courteous and even got me extra salad dressing. I would definitely return and recommend

There was a long wait for food but no warning. Had I known I wouldn’t have stayed, as had a very impatient toddler. There was no glasses for water, no knives and no juices for kids. I ordered the new avocado and eggs on sourdough toast, when it arrived there was a pathetic amount of smashed avocado. I told the staff and they took it back, but when it returned there was barely any more. The staff were nice enough, even went out of their way to bring juice for my toddler. But the food was extremely disappointing.

Bad enough to make you re-evaluate your life for going there in the first place. The cafe has ample seating but is usually empty and probably for a good reason. I've been here twice now and can't believe the poor quality of the food. On the slim chance I come here again, I might buy my own food from the store and ask them to bung it in their oven instead of ordering from their menu. Even then I'll probably still have to share it with the flies here. If you're as desperate as I was and just want to feed the kids, go to McDonald's - you'll know where you stand and it will probably be cheaper too.
