They quoted 89 dollars for an assessment fee. For a simple shower cartridge replacement, he quoted me 450 dollars with a high likelihood of it being pushed to 1450 dollars. This is the tactic they use to not make 1450 sound so bad. They will haphazardly try the 450 dollar approach and pivot to 1450 dollars. Never call these people if you care about the money you earn. They give a grossly exaggerated labour fee so you deny their service and take the appraisal fee. Avoid this at all costs.
This company is a scam. I contacted them regarding a leaky faucet in my basement, and a leak with my outdoor faucet. The technician came by about an hour later to look at the issue. He was in my basement for 3-4 minutes and told me that he could fix it no problem. I then showed him the tap outside which he said he could take care of at the same time and that it would be an "easy fix". He went to his truck and came back to my house with the quotations. The first was for $1,100 + HST (basement), while the outside repair quote was for $380 + HST. I said to him "That's a bit much isn't it?" He said "Both jobs will likely take 5-6 hours, plus parts". I told him I didn't want to proceed with this as it was too much money for what I believed were small repairs. When I initially called to book the service call, the lady on the phone told me that there was a fee of $90 + HST to get the technician over and that the fee would be waived if I proceeded with the quotation which seemed fair and which is why I proceeded. When the technician left, again, I felt like the quotations were much more than they should have been, so I decided to contact another plumbing company. The gentleman that I spoke with asked me to FaceTime him so he could see the issue, and be prepared in advance with parts to fix the issues. He told me that he would have both repairs completed in likely 2 hours. I didn't even ask him for the price as I knew he was being honest with me based on the FaceTime call, and the fact that he said that it was a 2 hour job (which is what I anticipated). He arrived the next day, and both jobs were completed in1.5 hours! He gave me the bill which was $150 HST included! That's $1,379.40 cheaper than what the other company quoted me and the work was done perfect with no further issues. I gave him $200 for his efforts and honesty. I contacted Delta Plumbers to explain my concern and looked for a refund for the wasted time. I ended up speaking with the same lady who I originally booked the service call with and she said they clearly detailed the terms and conditions, and I accepted them so no refund would be given. I explained that yes, I did accept the terms however I was mislead and that the next company I contacted did the work for $150. I asked her "Do you guys just send technicians around to make $90 in 5 minutes, and then present the customers with astronomical quotes in hopes of landing them?" This is their scam. The technician has the ability to make dozens of service calls a day without anyone proceeding with the quotes and they're still making a large profit without actually doing any of the work. Her response to me regarding the price difference between them and the company I used was "We use premium products and have experienced technicians which is why our prices are higher". I said "$1,300 worth of parts and experience?" I requested a refund again and she said she would speak to management and get back to me. I never heard back, so I called again today. I spoke with the same lady who said "Let me look into this". She called me back a few minutes later and apologized saying that I agreed to the terms and there's nothing they could do but appreciate my feedback and will work to do better. She then says (and I can't make this stuff up) "In the meantime would you like to move forward with the repairs?!?" I laughed and said "Clearly you didn't listen to a word I said, and clearly you never relayed this message to management as I indicated that this job was already completed for $150!" I was cordial, I didn't swear, I didn't yell, and she cut me off during my explanation saying "I'm sorry there's an urgent call coming in" and hung up the phone on me. These guys are honestly thieves and the purpose of this review is to hopefully save others from making the same mistake that I did. Save your time and money and go with someone else!
Don’t go with Delta Plumbers! They charge flat-rate pricing instead of by the hour. We had to pay $700 just to snake our kitchen drain. It only took the plumber, Brad half a hour to snake and plunge the drain. He first told me that to hydro-blast the drain would be $1,800 and that snaking would be half that. This is the tactic they use so that $700 doesn’t sound so bad. I stupidly agreed to the price. My husband was upset. We called Tri-City Plumbing who said that the charge $150 to come to your house and $99 to snake, so Delta Plumbing is way off with their pricing! I called to complain and they are crediting us $140. We won’t ever call them again. Feel scammed.
