Alright so it’s about time I write a review considering how much I’m at this location. To the staff reading this I’m sure you’ll see it’s Claudia’s mom! Hi! Anyway, wanted to write a heartfelt thank you to the team for their continued help with our family over the last couple of years. My husband and I are unable to have kids so we decided to open our hearts to some kittens. When we adopted them everyone was super supportive and so helpful in giving recommendations. A year after we decided to expand our family and get a dog! The intention was for her to be my service dog and while in Ontario you can legally train your own SD… I was lost! In comes Sara and Erin. They were absolutely amazing in helping my darling Claudia get to the level she needed to be at for training. From her first two weeks home to now a year later she has been so amazing (despite her teenager phase) and I can’t thank the trainers enough for their support. When I decided to try fish keeping the staff was just as informative and helpful in helping me make sure that I was truly ready for fish! Today I went in feeling my heart had a tiny rodent shaped hole in it. The final piece to our family. I was torn between a few rodents and finally pulled Amanda aside to ask her a million and one questions about all the hamsters. Once I made up my mind and felt I had enough information I got the tank set up for him and went right back. Amanda was still there and recollected our conversation about the hamster and even let me ask a few more questions. Not only that she let me drag her around 3 aisles for what felt like an hour as I collected all the supplies. And when I mean all I mean literally ALL. She didn’t have to do that. She could’ve given me a pamphlet and sent me on my way. She could’ve told me to google it. No. Every. Single. Item. Amanda was there. When the lid for my tank didn’t fit properly she even went out of her way to give me suggestions despite having spent a copious amount of time assisting me. As someone who is disabled and struggles with public interactions I can’t help but feel so safe at this petsmart location. It truly doesn’t feel like I’m going to a store, it feels like I’m going to friends who have helped me through every step of my journey through pet parenthood. From Icarus & Asmodeus my twin cats , Claudia my SD and now Bubbles my little Syrian hamster… thank you. It’s thanks to your store that I have been able to feel normal. Feel like a parent. Feel seen and heard. Listened to, respected, helped. Our family is beyond thankful and it’s only petsmart we go to for all our pet supplies now. Thank you, thank you thank you. Our family is now complete. P.S. Jasmine, Sara, Erin and Amanda you guys are absolute rockstars!!!! Don’t let me buy anymore animals though I think I’m gonna have to apply for a zoo license soon.
The store was on holiday hours so they were only open until 6pm, which is fine but our son had his heart set on getting some fish. We arrived at 5:45 she entered the store. The front counter associates told us they were closing in 15 minutes, we said no problem we're just getting some fish and she replied no worries, they're at the back of the store, David is back there and he can take care of you. So of course we had to take a look at pricing and the different varieties of fish for purchase. After 10 minutes, our son finally decided on which fish he wanted to buy. The associate in charge of fish told us or we can't sell you the fish anymore because it's 5 minutes to close and because he wants specific fish so it would take too long to catch those fish bag them and pay for them it would be after 6:00. So we then asked him what if we just get any fish out of the tank instead of picking a specific fish, he said no sorry we can't do that because it's too close to close. The front counter staff seem to have no problem with us buying fish, we were in the store and plenty of time before close and I don't see the problem in selling his fish even if it means we leave the store at 6:02 , we were there at 5:45. Our son is very upset that you couldn't get his fish because the man wouldn't sell them to him , on top of that their selection of species of fish was very limited due to lack of stock and the fact that tanks had fish in there that were sick according to the associate working that Department. Extremely disappointed in the level of customer service at this location , I'm not sure if this is a common practice at any PetSmart location but if it is, they should have made us aware of this when we walked in and told them we were looking for fish. We will not be returning for any purchases whatsoever.
The fishmonger is extremely rude. She tries to force a certain type of fish on me, and I don't want to buy a betta. She keeps repeating herself, forcing her opinion on me, saying, "I won't sell you fish unless you have a big tank." I am very upset and will never go there again. I do not recommend this store because of the employee's behavior.
