I generally don't do this, but we just had a new irrigation system put in by Carter and it was an extremely bad experience. The initial sales process went pretty well. We had to replace a really old system that was in bad shape, so I don't believe they oversold me on a new one, and the price wasn't bad, so upfront it all seemed OK. However, after we signed the agreement for them to come out, there was very little communication after that. They came out several weeks later (I get it, it's spring and they are busy), and flagged the yard for where the sprinkler heads were to go. After that, they said they'd start on "Monday or Tuesday" of the following week. They showed up on Tuesday and worked a half-day, during which time they completely dug up and broke a downspout drainage pipe that was in the yard that had just been replaced in the fall. They did not notify us during the day when it happened, but we discovered it that evening when we were outside. They showed up again the following day around 11 am and worked another half day where they proceeded to drill a hole into the crawl space of my house to get the pipe from the front yard to the back yard, something we did not discuss in the initial layout. Maybe this is common practice, but I've never heard of running an outside irrigation pipe under someone's house, so that seemed strange. I reached out via email to the person I had corresponded with about the original quote to see if I could get some clarification on a few things, including expected working hours and the damaged drain pipe. She said she would pass my questions and concerns on to the sales guy and the owner of the company, neither of which followed up with me on anything I had asked about. The next day they came out and proceeded to cut the internet line running to our house completely bringing our internet access down, which is a pretty big deal since we work from home. Again, they did not tell us that they had cut the line. I had to approach the crew members once we determined what the problem was and they had tried to "fix" it by putting electrical tape around it. They then proceeded to go to the store, buy a new coax cable with connectors and again unsuccessfully attempted to repair the broken line. None of which I would assume they are qualified to do. At that point I reached out to the sales guy to let him know what was going on and express my displeasure with how it was all going. He was unapologetic and blamed the utilities crew that marked the yard, even though the marking was very clear on the grass. This was on the Thursday before the Memorial Day weekend, and the earliest I could get a Comcast tech to come out was Saturday morning, which completely screwed up our travel plans. After a terse exchange with the sales guy, they did not communicate another time with me. The crew came back out the following morning, including the sales guy, but no one came to the door to provide an explanation, an apology, or any other form of information. They finished the job (I guess), and packed up and left. No one confirmed that they were complete, showed us how to use the technology, or how they had configured the timers. They did repair the drainage pipe they had dug up, but again, I have no idea if they are qualified to do that. They showed it to me, but I'm certainly no expert in what that is supposed to look like. I probably should have had another professional come out there to verify it, but at that point I needed this to be over. Lastly, and this might be nit picking a little bit, but the crew took naps in our yard every day that they were out there, even though they only worked half days each time. I'm all for taking a rest when you work outside in the heat, but not really a good look, given the other issues we were dealing with at the time. The entire process was extremely frustrating and hugely disappointing. I would absolutely not recommend using these guys and will 100% be looking for a new irrigation business to come in for the maintenance/service work.
Tre Carter has been with me over a year and the results are perfect. Tre takes his time with efficiency and quality workmanship. Mr Carter has full faith in his customers, just like I do, in him. Couldn’t do a better job. Tre helped me get my old irrigation system running again after years of dormancy. He replaced a few heads and then I was doing well! Mr Carter put in a back flow and that system has been great ever since. I’m truly grateful to have him as my irrigation go to person and I’m severely happy with his work!
I've been using Carter Irrigation since they started, for at least 20 years. Very responsive and professional, and they know my complex system inside and out. Highly recommended!
