Our family is very happy with the care my son has received from the staff team at this hospital. We feel like they really cared about him as a person and it was not fake. You can tell when people are fake. To us it was really genuine. Also his mental state was addressed. We appreciate different one's asking how are you doing? They actually stayed to listen; they did not just rush off, but really listened and tried to comfort him. I love Ms Tia the case manager. Sometimes when I was upset about his next steps she was so kind. She would take the time to explain why he could not do a certain thing and I really appreciated her. Please bring your loved ones here. I feel they will get excellent care. Thank all of you for being such a wonderful team for our family.
Kindred Hospital is a hospital that has very kind and eager staffing but does not have enough funding to support their staff or their patients. My dad came in as a transfer from another hospital after a TBI. We noticed during his stay that he was only being checked up on every 2 hours. For a patient that was not able to speak yet and still had breathing issues, that’s a really long time to be sitting around waiting for help especially after he had had a bowel movement. I believe the long wait was due to low staffing and hours. When notifying the charge nurse, they were kind and patient but it still took a while for the nurses to come to tend to him. There was a specific male charge nurse that seemed to be annoyed with our family’s requests. My own family and I at some points had to be the ones who wiped his bottom and clean himself. And sometimes even change the sheets. I will say that that it is not 100% fault of the staffing, but also from the low funding from the company themselves. But due to the lack of funding, sometimes that can lead to lack of training or resources. I also have only seen the doctor ONCE for the 12 days he was there. There were many times that they did not clean the actual bed even though there was feces on it but they would cover it with a sheet. They also had the training pads or walking pads on the sides of his bed that would get so dirty, and it's unsanitary knowing he would eventually be standing on it. There were times where their staff would be so short that they asked me to do things for them, which isn't normal for a facility people pay for service. Another thing that bothered us is that every time they'd wipe him, they'd use a wash rag which gave him really bad burns. We had to make a request to have them use the bath wet wipes, and it didn't seem like they wanted to use it because it was using their resources when they could just reuse the rags. When communicating with our case manager, Tericka was very kind - but we wished we had more clear communication because we were not aware of when my dad was going to be transferred until the new hospital called us. There were a lot of things we had to do ourselves. Although our experience wasn’t the best, we are still happy and grateful for the help he got to get him better. Again, hopefully the hospital can receive better funding and more staff to have a more receptive, responsive and well-trained staff for future patients. Huge shoutout to Laura, Mackenzie, Bisola and Erica for being transparent and helpful with us. When we heard that he was going to be transferred to another hospital that has the same name as me, we thought it was fate. Now, we hope for future patients to have more responsiveness from all parts coming to this hospital.
My husband was in a horrific accident in oct ‘24. Since then, he has been in and out of different hospitals and facilities. He been in the Kindred North for only a few weeks now and never looked and felt better. The facility is awesome, clean and the staff is top notch. They give him so much care and attention and really care about his needs and potential needs for his future. The site is so great that i wish he could stay there for years. I give them a 5 star. Jane
