Customer experiences
The respiratory team is incredible. The physical therapy is incredible. The doctors are great. A few good nurses, and a few good CNA. One nurse, Sydney, didn't know that I was on the phone with my son, and she was screaming at him because she is lazy and didn't want to do her job. His bag was leaking and she had to do work. She literally screamed at him like he was trash. Shout out to a few great nurses, Diane and Cris. I know a few more are great, but I didn't get all their names. The CNA's during the day, great. Night ones, pure lazy. Respiratory team got my son off the ventilator in no time. Unbelievable. I have mixed feelings about this place. Some good and professional people working there, and some that shouldn't have a job working around any human being.
Kindred Hospital Indianapolis specializes in long-term acute care with a dedicated staff. They provide focused, personalized treatment, though wait times and communication can vary.
My brother was admitted here from community North Hospital. He was on life support. He had woken up here. He remembers a special nurse or an assistant after being passed around from one person to another. This girl had compassion and tried to brush his hair, shaved him being in a comma for several months. We do not remember her name but she was black, and caring, we are white. She was the first person he saw when he woke up. She was his angel. There are other but this girl knows who she is, we don't want her to change. I gave a 3 star review because she makes it a 3 star. He was over medicated with antibiotics, no one knew how to handle a trachea or bone flap. He was then shortly transferred to another facility. To this lady we thank you if you still there.
My daughter was sent to Kindred Acute Long Term Care on March 20 2025, After having surgery on her Left lung, due to an acute case of pneumonia that collapsed her lung; at University Hospital in Indianapolis. After multiple failures to ween her off the Ventilator, they had to perform a Tracheotomy to place a Trachea to be able to breathe with support of the Ventilator, with the goal of weaning her off of the Ventilator, and removable of the Trachea at some point. That was not successful, so they sent her to Kindred Hospital which is known to specialize in helping patients be weened from the Ventilator and eventually be able to remove the Trachea and help the patient get back to their normal way of life. The first few nights were pretty rough, as there were other obstacles that needed to be addressed in the plan to get my daughter back to her prior health condition. Once the nurses and other staff understood that my daughter wasn't just the normal patient needing extra care to reach the goals they were expecting her to make, after changes and understanding were put into place, then the goal could be probably reached but at a slower pace than most patients. You see not only was my daughter facing this new battle with her life, but she has Myotonic Dystrophy (a form of Muscular Dystrophy) which she has had since birth, and due to that disease her intestinal system shut down completely in 2008, and she had to not only have her Colon removed but she ended up with an Ileostomy, and then a year later on April 18 2009, she had to have a Multi Visceral Transplant witch consisted of 4 organs of her intestinal system being transplanted. She survived that and 5 years later she had a baby, and even though she was advised against having a child, her & husband decided she was well enough to manage a child. They didn't think about the fact that the risk was very high, at 28 weeks she went into labor, and somehow by the miracles of prayer, her Transplant surgeons, & OB Surgeons, they delivered her 2lb 9 oz baby girl. They saved both of their lives. Now 10 years later we have been praying for her life again, and with the miracles of Prayers from all over, the Amazing Doctors, Specialists , Surgeons, Physical Therapist, Dietitians, and all the Nursing Staff, from University Hospital, and now the Doctors, Physical Therapist, Dietitians, Nurses, Tech/Aides, Respiratory, Custodial staff And the Patient Advocates here at Kindred Hospital my daughter has successfully been weened off the Ventilator. She may still have to go home with the Tracheotomy, but she is definitely on the road to recovery. I have stayed with my daughter through this whole ordeal while she was at IU University Hospital, and the whole time she has been at Kindred. They have been so nice in letting me stay here & letting me help with my daughter's care and even heeding to some suggestions, in her care that I could see were needed. They have all been a great help to both of us to insure she will be able to return home to her daughter and our family. I especially want to thank Monica, for going above and beyond to help me take care of a couple of very personal matters Thank you all for your help. May God Bless you all. April's Mom
