I had an extremely disappointing experience with Markham Kia from the very start. First, the price shown in their Facebook ad did not match the price on their website, which immediately raised concerns about transparency. I purchased a 2022 Kia Seltos and picked it up on December 11 (I also bought a 2-year extended warranty). Within about 8 minutes of leaving the dealership (4.1 km), the vehicle broke down with excessive smoke and shaking and would not restart. I had to pull over and shut the engine off. A loaner vehicle was provided, but I lost the entire day and was told the car would be inspected first thing the next morning. After that, communication was consistently poor. I repeatedly asked for: • A clear summary of what repairs/inspections were actually completed • The vehicle’s maintenance history (I was repeatedly sent a document with recommendations, not repair history) • Confirmation on warranty implications due to missing maintenance records • Kia Connect activation confirmation • Removal of cigarette smell • Transmission fluid service status and timing belt/chain inspection I often received no reply at all, and there were long gaps in communication (including no meaningful updates between December 18 and January 5). This also affected my holidays because I didn’t feel comfortable taking risks while driving a loaner. On January 5, I got a call at 6:00 p.m. saying the car was fixed and could be delivered that night, with no prior notice. I eventually received the car on January 19, one hour later than the time announced. Even then, issues were still unresolved: • The power outlet wasn’t functional on delivery • One wiper was broken • The cigarette smell had not improved at all • I asked a question about the tires and never received an answer Since delivery, I have emailed management multiple times about additional issues and received no response. It genuinely feels like once the vehicle was delivered, they no longer wanted to engage. For context, this is the first negative review I have ever left. I am a business owner, and it genuinely pains me to post this because I know how much a review can impact a company and a brand. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency, lack of follow-through, and lack of communication left me with no other option.
I had a positive experience working with Larry the service consultant, who was both knowledgeable and professional. While my initial issue wasn't fully resolved on the first visit and required a second trip, Larry did an excellent job of keeping me informed every step of the was. I appreciated the transparency and clear communication throughout the process.
