Ally BevanMy car had been making an awful grinding/rattling noise for days. I brought it to a mechanic i was unfamiliar with as I am new to this area, and I was told that the noise was a damaged timing chain and that my vehicle could not be driven and needed to be sold immediately as it wasn't worth the cost it would take to fix it. I wanted a second opinion before committing to selling and buying a new vehicle, obviously. I called everywhere between Guelph and hamilton trying to get an appointment ASAP, and was unable to (understandably, it's winter and most mechanics are booked solid). This shop accepted me as a walk-in and within an hour they were able to tell me that my engine was entirely fine, I didn't need to sell my car, and the noise? A loose heat shield. They brought me into the back, confirmed that I couldn't hear the noise, and physically showed me what was causing the noise, as well as other potential problems that I should get fixed at some point. They were clear and concise, and they were able to explain everything despite my non-existent knowledge of cars. They let me take it for a drive to confirm i couldn't hear the noise, and told me to call back if I heard it again over the next few days. It's been a number of days now, and my car has never been so quiet. I can't believe I almost sold my car because of an incorrect diagnosis. This shop saved me so much time, energy, and money. They were beyond polite and patient, they work very quickly, and they're very straightforward and honest. I can't begin to express my gratitude. I will absolutely be returning for any future work that's required, and I would very much recommend them to anyone looking for a mechanic.
