A friend recommended this salon, and I was looking forward to my visit. I called ahead to ask about pricing and confirmed the same amount again with the stylist when I arrived. The cut itself was decent, and I really liked the stylist. She was friendly and professional. However, when it came time to pay, I was unexpectedly charged $10 more than the quoted price. The stylist looked visibly uncomfortable when the owner rang me through, which made it clear she knew it wasn’t what we had agreed on. It’s not about the $10. I would’ve gladly paid that if it had been communicated upfront but the surprise left a sour taste. My stomach sank and it turned me off from coming back. Just a heads-up: the salon is cash only.

Maya Hair Salon, situated in Koreatown near Christie Station and occupying the second floor, stands out as a cash-only hair salon. Despite price increases, the experience is well worth the value. Hair stylists can be a hit or miss. Updated for beginning of 2025, but Mayo does not work here anymore. The hair stylist, Mayo, left a great impression during my experience with her pleasant personality and informative session. Mayo was very knowledgeable on questions and provided valuable hair care advice. She demonstrated a high level of attentiveness to her clients and their hair. Definitely felt like I was in capable hands. Additionally, She gives a nice relaxing head massage during the hair wash, enhancing the overall experience. Make sure to check for reservations in advance if you have a preferred stylist. Do note, Maya Hair Salon requires walking up stairs to go to the second floor.

I called ahead to find out how much was a root touch up. The owner told me Around $90 The price list at shop was showing $80!! When I’m done, the owner said 120$!!! I said that sounds too high? She goes your Grey hair grown too long! But I did hair die 6 weeks ago!! Maya used to be very reasonable and good, and don’t get me wrong, the Japanese female stylist did good job, but I am not going back to pay 110$ for roots touch up there!!

I always love coming here for a trim and feel very cared for whenever I get a haircut by Daiki! 😎 He’s cut my hair twice now, as I always ask for a short blunt bob cut and he takes his time with precision making sure every hair falls where it should. For a ladies cut prices range from $50-60! Would highly recommend Maya Studios if your in Koreatown 💇🏻‍♀️✨
