We hired a baby nurse from Baby Nurse USA (Maria) for 3 months when our son was born. She was fantastic! While the timing will depend on the baby’s weight, etc., our son was sleeping through the night after 2 months, and (with a couple of isolated exceptions) has been a solid and consistent sleeper in the 15 months since then. (Our families and friends are still amazed.) She seriously knew what she was doing. She was extremely organized and clean. Her swaddles were no joke (I was taking pictures of them at one point), and she had the golden touch when it came to getting burps. She would’ve earned her 5 stars based on skills/outcomes alone. But she went beyond — she taught us (as first-time parents) everything we needed to know about taking care of a newborn. It was a confidence boost I really needed at that point. And more important we were able to take over when she left. TOTAL life-changer.
