Customer experiences
Went here with my one year old and we had a blast. The imagery they put together for the kids books is so cool. When you first enter, it's through a gigantic hole in the ground (hence rabbit hole) and there were kids were playing hide and seek (perfect place to do that). There were various side rooms to see with miniatures. The main area is so hard to describe because it's just so cool. So many children's books and imagery and things to climb on and explore.
What a wonderful place! Artistry is top notch. The "Goodnight Moon" room brought back such sweet memories of my children and now being able to read story to grandchild in this special place is priceless for me. If you can do extra story walk through it is worth it. We had a great time being immersed in the "Three Robbers" interactive story. Magical place. It didn't disappoint.
The fun starts outside on the sidewalk where there are rabbit footprints to follow from the parking lot to the front door. Inside, children’s books become life-sized for an immersive experience. Several copies of the books represented are placed so that you can sit and read the books as you go through the different areas. This was such an amazing experience! As a librarian. i knew that I just had to plan a trip to KC just to come here! I visited with my grown daughter, son in law, and husband and they thought it was pretty cool. The only negatives were that the prices in the book store were pretty high, there wasn't enough air conditioning or fans moving the air around. We were literally sweating, and some of the bathroom stall doors didn't stay closed.
This place is amazing! A hidden gem. If you're in the area or just passing through it's definitely a must see if you have younger children (or just fond memories of the book you read as a child). They packed in exhibits on so many classic children's stores (both old and new). They are large, colorful, and faithful to the books they represent. Be aware that while you can touch, and often climb on the exhibits, there's not a ton that are "interactive". Instead you are encourage to read the stories with you party (certainly not a requirement, but a fitting approach).
