SAHO Owasso Animal Hospital

We use SAHO regularly. We are thankful to have them so near to our house. Today was a prime example: Our cat Meatloaf has had some respiratory congestion for several days. SAHO got us us in very quickly within an hour of us calling! We spoke to 4 people on the phone scheduling (Bri, Emily, Kayla, etc) canceling, then rescheduling and they were very kind and patient with us. Once we arrived, they promptly saw us. Dr Evans was very gentle and professional with Meatloaf, giving us an antibiotic shot for other issues and good advice. Jensyn Brown was our nurse and was very courteous and helpful as well. While the staff are very friendly, I’d never bring my dogs here again. I brought my dog in for emergency, because she was having classic symptoms of hypocalcemia… her puppies are five weeks old. I laid out the facts and symptoms. They thought she had kidney problems and mastitis, so wanted to run bloodwork… bloodwork came back with low calcium. The whole time my dog was there she received no calcium. With hypocalcemia it’s imperative to have a calcium gluconate IV and most problems resolve quickly. They gave her a sedative and pain pill…. I paid $396 for Bloodwork, and whatever they did. None of which included any fluids, etc. They wanted $1300 for an overnight stay, I asked what another option for calcium was and they didn’t have any suggestions…. Calsorb is an option if IV can’t be done. I used Oral Cal and I’m glad I didn’t leave my dog with them. I’m also glad I had administered calcium via Tums prior to taking her in. Anyway I administered calcium every two hours all night and into the next morning. I ended up taking my dog into my vet, because she was excessively drooling and had foul odor from her mouth…. Two minutes and my vet had a diagnosis! My poor dog had chemical burns in her mouth and the chemical she ingested also caused the hypocalcemia…. My poor girl Lost valuable time of being able to coat her stomach to lessen affects of the toxin. By deduction I’ve narrowed it down to being sodium Carbonate from a dishwasher pod. Granted the vet at SAHO said something about her tongue being ulcerated, but didn’t look past the bloodwork (which she had elevated sodium levels). My vet had half the information that SAHO had and diagnosed her in minutes without bloodwork and a fraction of the cost. He looked at her tongue and said that it was a chemical burn and she now has an infection in her mouth. I am not venturing From my vet (Pryor vet south) again. Its hard as a pet owner to go and have to trust strangers with your dog, but its even worse when you get charged so much and your dog was no better than when she came in. I wasn’t willing to pay more and leave my dog there… I’m glad I made that call. I just pray my dog can recover and it’s not too late.

Saho always takes such great care of our dogs. We've taken both of our dogs here for years, and since they were puppies we've always had a great experience when it comes to both vet and daycare. We typically don't request to see the same doctor each time and no matter who we see, they are always very thorough, even when they are very busy with appointments and they never rush which I appreciate. The nurses and staff at the front desk are always wonderful and very helpful too. The daycare is fantastic- my dog Hazel absolutely loved it and would get so excited to go. I can't think of a time I've had a bad experience here. I highly recommend saho to any pet owner- even exotic pets, as they also brought my bearded dragon back from a severe respiratory infection that had him on death's door. Not a paid review or anything I just really appreciate how attentive they always are. Thank you saho!
