21 Breakwater Restaurant

I stopped in around 1:30pm on a Thursday. It was not busy at all, and a gorgeous day. There are many tables inside, but also some on the covered porch, and picnic tables in the yard. From the front of the house, you have great views of Souris Harbour. I got one of their specials, grilled salmon with fries and a side salad. When I tell you that was my favorite meal so far on the island, I'm being honest. All of the flavors were perfect! The salad had just the right amount of dressing so not to overwhelm or get soggy. If you're in the area, or even if you're not, I highly recommend stopping by. My waitress said they're hoping to stay open until Christmas.

So good that we can’t believe this place isn’t full from the moment they open. We went for lunch and enjoyed the view from the front porch. Our server, Kelly, was extremely friendly and spot on with her recommendations. We shared the lobster and crab dip as well as the Portuguese fish and chips. We honestly couldn’t decide which was better. The fresh haddock was cooked to perfection with homemade tartar sauce (we don’t even like tartar sauce but theirs is delicious). The dip was just right, not too much mayo or filler, just plenty of flavor. To top it off we enjoyed a slice of the apple caramel cheesecake, just too much. Honestly our best meal on the Island, hands down.

07.23.2025. Tasty food for very reasonable price. Food was served at the right temperature and excellent taste. We ordered the specials for the day - scallops on grilled bread and mussels in citrus and butter. Cozy ambiance, friendly staff, lovely views from the window, and clean washrooms. We found the place is for sale, hoping the new owners will continue the business.
