Customer experiences
In Westford, our garage door had become a noisy mess. I called Acton Garage Door Repair after a neighbor recommended them. Eric came out and did a full inspection. He replaced the rollers, adjusted the spring tension, and cleaned the track thoroughly. Now it runs quieter than it ever has. What I appreciated most was the no-pressure approach. He explained options for future upgrades but didn’t try to push them. The pricing was transparent and fair. I felt like I was working with someone who genuinely wanted to help. Great experience all around.
Beware! These guys did not answer my call during regular business hours, so I hung up without leaving a message. Some guy called me back minutes later. (Odd.) He said he could come out the same day, which I agreed to, though that also struck me as odd. Then he called again to reschedule the appointment to earlier in the day, which I agreed to. Some guy with a foreign accent who claimed to be named David showed up in an unmarked minivan. He said my garage door wouldn't open because one of the springs was broken. He said both springs need to be replaced and that the springs are "very expensive." He quoted me $850 for each "Chinese" spring, labor included. If I wanted "American-made" springs, the price was $1,150 for each spring, labor included. That struck me as exorbitant, so I said no thank you. He persisted with red flag tactics like "How much could you pay?" and "You seem like an honest guy. I could take partial payment today and the rest later." Eventually I got rid of him. But he returned minutes later, rang my doorbell, and claimed his "manager" really wanted to close the deal. I said no thank you and closed the door. Fortunately, I had also called Chelmsford Garage Door, which is legitimate. They came out a couple of days later in a company vehicle and quoted me $600 for the entire job, which struck me as reasonable. I explained my experience with Acton Garage Door Repair and they said they've had to help other customers whom Acton Garage Door Repair successfully scammed. Good thing I didn't fall for it.
I had an opener installed years ago and it finally stopped responding. I’m in Westford, and Acton Garage Door Repair sent a technician right away. I didn’t get his name, but he was incredibly professional. He determined that the issue wasn’t the opener itself, but a faulty wall switch. He replaced it, tested the remotes, and made sure the power supply was protected with a surge bar. I thought I’d be out hundreds, but it turned out to be a simple fix. That kind of honesty is why I’ll be recommending them to everyone I know. Great experience.
After months of hesitation, I finally called someone about my noisy garage door. Eric showed up to my home in Westford and knew exactly what to do. He replaced worn-out rollers and adjusted the motor speed, and now the whole thing runs so quietly. I was impressed not only by the workmanship but also how respectful he was in explaining things. Truly a pro.
