Updated Review 10/7/25: I am changing my review from 1 star to 5. We finally were able to get in touch with a manager named Brian, and he was able to help us out and make it right. He apologized for the inconvenience and refunded our money. I guess we should’ve never had to pay in the first place to get this issue resolved, but it’s really refreshing to encounter a manager that will own mistakes and make them right. Thanks Brian! Original Review: I had a terrible experience with Garage Door Doctor. About two years after installing our brand new garage door, the spring broke. Unfortunately, it was just outside the one-year warranty. They offered us a $23 discount and a $50 coupon that everyone gets, which was disappointing. We hardly use our garage door, so I expected better quality. The new technician showed us how to grease the door to prolong the life of the new springs, but the original technician should have done that. When you spend $2500 on a new garage door, you shouldn't have to spend another $500 on it just over two years later. Either the craftsmanship or the parts (or both) are faulty. The only positive aspect was the new technician, who was very nice and even offered to get me a drink from a gas station on his way over both times he visited.

Matt Whitney was the technician who came out to repair our garage door. The spring had snapped and the door itself wasn't in great shape. Matt showed up near the beginning of the estimated time window. He was super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I asked him a bunch of questions about cost, material specs, longevity of the new spring system, etc. He clearly had tons of technical expertise and was able to answer all my questions to my full satisfaction. He was very down-to-earth and related well to my family's situation. He wasn't pushy at all. He recommended 3 different spring configurations to choose from for the size/weight of our garage door and really allowed me to make a well-educated, unbiased decision. Then he gave me a simple after-tax quote without a bunch of extra hidden fees and junk, which was very refreshing. And the price was reasonable (if not low) based on some prior online research I had done. Lastly, Matt was able to install the new spring system and do a bunch of repairs on the door itself that same day, having it fully operational by lunch. The door is in much better shape and actually opens/closes quietly now. I would definitely recommend Garage Door Doctor to neighbors and friends!

My Tuesday morning started with a very loud noise. I initially dismissed it as thunder, but a check of my weather app showed clear skies. The mystery was solved shortly after when I tried to leave for a client meeting in Lafayette: my garage door wouldn't open. The loud sound was the tension spring snapping. My technician, Mack, was truly amazing. He clearly explained the repair process and the cost upfront. What impressed me most, beyond the excellent service, was the communication. I received text messages and a phone call from Mack when he was 20 minutes away. My entire experience with Garage Door Doctor was outstanding, and I would absolutely use them again.
