Alpha MOT Centre

I don’t like writing negative reviews but from my experience I won’t be returning. I was given a car to get me out of trouble and I needed an MOT on the quick side. My usual mechanic was too busy so I found Alpha MOT centre online. Spoke with them on the phone and they booked me in the next day! Customer service was ok, no issues. Man on the phone was pleasant and helped me out. Hence the bump in stars (being generous). Arrived at the garage the next morning, left the keys and went on with my day. Didn’t hear anything all day until I called later that afternoon to find out that it had failed. That’s fine, that’s not their fault, only doing their job. So I had the work done required to pass the MOT through them (brakes). The day went on again so I had to chase them again to see if the car was available which it was and it had passed its MOT. I picked the car up and returned home. Later that night I went out to the car to go to work, no more than a mile up the road I hear as if I am dragging something up the road. The exhaust and back box had dropped out! I understand an MOT is only as good as the moment it is done but I found it bizarre that the car had had an MOT the very same day this happened. A few days later my usual mechanic looked at the car and the whole underside had corroded! That car was never safe enough to be on the road in the first place and should never had been passed for an MOT. Could push a hole through the rust with hardly any effort. I had to scrap the car as the expense to get that fixed just outweighed the cost of the car. I wasn’t aware of the condition of the car when it was given to me but Alpha MOT centre never once mentioned the state of the underside, it never even come up in the original test that failed. I was just disappointed, waste of time, waste of money and out of pocket.

I went into Alpha MOT last week with a list of advisories from my last MOT that I needed looking at before my MOT test this time round. I explained I was dubious about some of the previous advisories (not done by Alpha) as I already had alot of work done on my car which included some of the items put down as an advisory. The very friendly lady on reception spoke to me in plain English (not car jargon) and we agreed to get my MOT done and then go from there on any advisories picked up this time around. After waiting in anticipation for the MOT test, the examiner came through and told me the car had passed on everything except 2 tyres needed changing! Nearly £1,000 worth on advisories on the last MOT that simply didn't need doing. I was pleased and shocked that I very nearly paid out to get work done that clearly didn't need to be done! I can honestly highly recommend Alpha MOT Centre for their friendly staff, their honesty and upfront approach to dealing with my car, and also the fact (in my non-car mind) that they could of told me all that work did in fact need doing, especially as I had already told them I was going to get them to put right any advisories I had on this test. 100% won me as a customer from now on. First class service right the way through dealing with them. 🤗

Great service. Urgently needed brake discs and pads and they fitted me in the morning after I rang AND got it done quickly so I could use my car for work again the same day. Friendly service and honest pricing.
