Dr. Domb performed a labral repair and femoroplasty on my right hip around 2.5 years ago, the second surgery I have undergone for that hip. The surgery itself went well and my hip feels better than it has in years. However, the billing department at AHI has completely soured my experience with AHI as a whole. About a year and a half after my surgery, I received an email stating that I owed AHI over $7,000, when my account showed a zero balance on the office visits I had prior to receiving that email. I then set up a payment plan, which they use a third-party (InstaMed) to enforce. I was able to complete the payment plan early (in August) by paying AHI directly through their patient portal and ever since the amount has continued to be withdrawn by InstaMed each month. When you call billing at AHI no one answers and they never respond to any voicemails. If you call the clinic, they tell you that there is only one person in billing and that they’ll send them a message to return your call. When the amount was taken out last month, a refund was issued (after calling 7 times just to talk to someone and them saying that it shouldn’t have been taken out because my account shows a zero balance) they also claimed to have marked my payment plan as completed through InstaMed, however, InstaMed’s customer service confirmed that AHI did not correctly mark my account as being completed so I will continue to be charged the remaining amount that their system shows until AHI changes things on their end since they were the ones that set up the plan. I am happy with the results of my surgery, but because of my experience with AHI’s billing department I will not be returning as a patient for any future surgeries I may need.
