VERY RUDE OF THE WAITRESS & POOR QUALITY OF FOODS. DO NOT WASTE THE $$$ TO EAT HERE!!!!! Oct 12, 2025 - I ordered the battered fish and chips from the lunch menu; my friends and I agreed that the portion of the fillet is very small and quite fishy (not fresh); about my own order, I substituted the chips with “vegetable” but the restaurant was only gave the carrots. At $25.99 plus tips and taxes so it costs over $30 it’s overpriced for junk foods 🙄🤢🤮 The services were terrible as one of the waitress, the chubby one was very rude when I told her that she messed up my order. It’s no apology for the mistakes she made and yelled at me for not paying attention when I ordered my foods. It seems she was trying to excuse the situation she caused. Meanwhile, this waitress was questioning me in front of other customers and very confrontational. I addressed my concerns to her it’s UNACCEPTABLE ATTITUDE to the customers. 🥴🥴🥴 The owner should not hire this type of people as the front end worker. I did report the situation to another person who was working at the cashier area. I hope the owner should investigate this situation at least …. AWFUL EXPERIENCE I NEVER EVEN HAD —————> After I read your feedback it’s totally nonsense and made up. I don’t believe you came to check me out and asked about my experience when I was in your restaurant. It’s totally misleading information to warp up this complaint. Secondly, my friends did not make any apology on my behalf because I asked them after I read your message. What’s your point it does not make sense Your waitress was just rushing out to get the order it’s NO explanation about the option of vegetables your restaurant had offered. It’s unacceptable as you are trying so hard to cover up the story. The customers have a right to know about the experience from the former customers before they make a choice.

After sharing an amazing meal with family tonight I felt compelled to share our experience with a personal review in the hopes it would motivate others to dine at this wonderful restaurant and very historic site. I entered the review section and couldn't help but notice a couple of grossly misrepresented reviews targeting this restaurant, staff and owner..... EB1223, Cynthia and Craig, IMO you likely don't have much going on in your life to try and damage such a great business and staff that work extremely HARD as we witnessed this evening. The restaurant was packed tonight and our service was absolutely wonderful with Beth our server who alongside the other servers AND the owner Denise who was also racing around ensuring all guest needs were met. Tonight our family all enjoyed the herb battered cod combo and with many years of Nova Scotia meals enjoyed with in-laws, I can say this meal was AMAZING and better than some places in Nova Scotia. The portion is huge, 2 generous pieces of fish with choice of salad or fries, you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere was great, everyone appeared happy and enjoying a variety of food as it passed by our table, so many options to choose from. Beth our server did not stop the entire time we dined however made it a priority to consistently stop and check with our table to ensure we had everthing we needed and the food was good. The owner Denise who some claim has an attitude and treats people horrible including her servers certainly must've been mistaken as we watched as several guests were greeted by her or they greeted Denise with warm smiles and gratitude. Denise who is well known to our family relatives took the time to stop and chat with us as well despite also trying to race around with her team and tend to the full house dining tonight. I recognize this review is long winded but I prefer to be thorough as I appreciate true reviews myself. As a guest to island for the last 45 years, you will not be disappointed with this small town warm and inviting restaurant that caters to locals and tourist's with several food options that will not disappoint. Coming up from the GTA each summer there is alot that people down south could learn from the owner and staff at the anchor inn that's for sure. It would not shock me if the isolated and IMO inaccurate reviews on here are from GTA residents with the exception of Craig who clearly fails to understand how to support fellow local business's especially in such turbulent financial times. Thank you Anchor Inn staff for such a great meal and dining experience tonight. We'll see you again next summer!!!!

Alice, if you took half the time you spent on your review to read the menu and pay attention while ordering I am thinking you would not have had any issues. I happened to see your review and laughed. How can you expect anyone to take you seriously with that review full of grammar failure and ultimately insulting someone and their appearance that has nothing to do with the food or service. Your inability to leave a true and transparent review and not some trashy marathon of whining screams volumes. The fish meal here is amazing and so are the staff (from our experiences over the years ) somehow I feel like you're a kraft dinner and hot dogs type of human .....keep it classy ;)
