I had a great experience here at Aspen Dental. Initially I was nervous coming in, but all the workers did a great job of making me feel comfortable. Kayla who was my dental assistant was amazing from start to finish. Very professional and positive. All the information given to me was clear and understandable. I would recommend Aspen Dental for sure!
Wide OPEN appointment schedule. (should have been my first clue). Staff was nice (2 stars) 19 Xrays for an annual check up/first visit. No cleaning done, they claimed I needed a 'scraping' for periodontal disease! (I have always been complimented on my 'good gums and flossing really shows!). They would NOT do the regular cleaning, only the 2 visit cleaning, needed every 3 months for the rest of your life, and needs to be numbed in all quadrants - needles for a cleaning. NO thanks. I cancelled the cleaning 24 hours later after doing my own research on them. Dont waste your time.
Upon attempting to schedule it was insistent that I provide the H number on my UHC card. I explained there is no such number with an H. I was told they could not schedule me without it. I called UHC and was told they have no idea what or why I am being asked this. I called back Aspen and they still insisted. I requested they receive my UHC card by email for review and determination of eligibility. Which they did and was approved. At my first appt the xray tech would drop pieces of the equipment that went onto image card for mouth and put back in tray. Xray machine stopped uploading images and they apologized stating they have requested it be repaired or replaced. They had to take many extra photos with a handheld machine. The hygienist was extremely rude!!! She challenged me on information I provided or when I asked a question. I have had decades of extensive dental and maxofacial work done from a car accident. I have a fairly good understanding of procedures from my experiences, which had cost me out of pocket over 50K, not to mention the cost my insurance picked up. The hygenists demeaner severely lacked professionalism. To only list one example in brevity, she would say my periodontist should know or should have done. My periodontist happens to be the best in the state and I would have done if it were his recommendation. I had to restate my question, because I wanted clarity on what she wanted to do at my cleaning. The bathrooms were unsanitary. I was told the cleaners come once a week. That alone, for a dental facility is repulsive. I decided to cancel all future appointments as I have a lack faith in any future outcomes. I requested my records be transferred to my periodontist for him to assess if my cleaning was to occur under the gums, with antibiotics injected. I would highly discourage patients from going to this particular Aspen facility. Post Road Warwick, RI
