I’ve been bringing my 10 months old Malinois x Dutch Shepard Rhea to Auberge La Niche - Pension Canine de l'Estrie. She has been there approximately 3 times. The two first visit they said Rhea was generally good but there was thing that I need to work on with my dog trainer back home. This last time was I think the worst experience I had in my 10 years of owning a dog. Rhea was in this daycare between June 24 to July 7. They ask me to contact them during the weeks Rhea was there to check up on her. So I did as they asked. This is the message they sent me on July 1 st : “Hi, she is doing well 🙂 She eats like a champ and listens to us most of the time. She does seem to be a bit more reactive toward other dogs than before. She does not attack them, but she charges and barks at them until we stop her, so she gets more rest in her crate than others. She still goes outside 4 times a day! Other than that, everything is good. We will send you a picture before the end of her stay. Have a nice day!” In my mind I took the positive aspects of the message and was thinking everything went fine. Knowing that this breed of dog are mostly anxious dogs. On July 5, I received a frantic phone call by one of the employees. She was cuirsing and talking so loud that the person who was in the same room could hear the conversation. The employee stated that my dog is aggressive with other dogs and people. Rhea has been biting the staff. I told her that before she went in the daycare she was doing a lot of progress and the trainer was amazed of the work we have been doing. The employee said that my trainer wasn’t good and that Rhea was getting worst and worst. I should consider someone else to train Rhea. Rhea will be left in the cage the majority of the time because she’s uncontrollable. The employee also told me that they lost staff during the weeks that rhea was there and that they gave no notice of leaving. Lastly she told me my dog was banned from this establishment. That same day I researched to find another trainer to get her evaluated. I was worried because I have an 8 year old son and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to him if she is “aggressive”. On July 7th, I came to get my dog. When I saw her my heart was broken. She had lost so much weight. I told the staff that was at the counter that I would like to talk to the owner to tell her about my bad experience. She said to send a message by messenger. When we got home I notice that there was a day worth of food that wasn’t given to Rhea. She was scared to eat her food. She had her ears down a lot and that depending on where we touched her she would act frighten. Rhea also relieved herself all over the house for 3 days. I DON’T RECOMMEND Auberge La Niche - Pension Canine de l'Estrie. They didn’t call me back when I asked to talk to the owner. I was told by other people from Sherbrooke that if they don’t like your dog they will say they don’t have availabilities when they actually do! They shame the owners of the dog continuously. Yesterday I got my dog evaluated by Pension Éducative Canine de l'Outaouais. He has a good reputation to train Shepards. He told me that in general she wasn’t aggressive. That depending on the circumstances she could be. He explain that there are ways to introduce dogs to other dogs. The energy of a person also can affect how the dog reacts.

Our first experience went very well . Unfortunately the second one was absolutely horrible. It was different staff this time maybe this was part of the problem. But they also seemed overbooked and understaffed for the number of dogs i saw at pick up . They said she had anxiety and was biting the fence and cut her tongue on the first day and then again on the second day . These are many deep cuts , lost a tooth !! This could not have happened in an instance . Instead of fixing the issue witch is not being able to pay attention to all of the dogs they simply said not to come back.

My GSD loves it there! The staff members are experienced with GSD some of them owns a GSD. THIS is a great place for socializing, giving your dog confidence to be around different handlers whether it's a male or female. Awesome place to have your dog or puppy meet other fur babies. It's a clean place, STAFF are friendly. Bilingualism is not an issue. Great prices 👏👍
