I went to this garage because my idling was a bit rough. After hours and hours of diagnostics at an extortionate price per hour, they decided I had to have a mass airflow meter changed and a gasket neither turbo changed. If they would have taken the engine cover off, they would have seen the oil coming out of the Turbo gasket, which wouldn't have taken long as it's up high in the engine.But instead they decided to do loads of hours of diagnostics which worked out an extortionate price of over £2000. I contacted the cars manufacturer, and they said they would have charged much, much less. I found the owner very tricky. Real Bad Experience !!!

I contacted Kinghams in an emergency on a Thursday afternoon after my car broke down in Croydon. I did not know Kinghams and chose them because of the I central location, good reviews and because they were open until 6.00pm. I had already called two garages who were closing at 5.00pm and said they could not look at my car for one week or two weeks respectively. Gary answered my call promptly and assured me they could look at my car on Monday and keep it on site until then. He also assured me I could leave the car there overnight and drop the keys if the tow truck was unable to drop me before they closed. I was somewhat stressed by my situation and Gary’s calm and friendly assurance was very comforting. My car and I did not reach Kinghams until 6.40pm but Kith Kingham, the owner, had stayed open to wait for me. He explained calmly what they would do and what it would cost for an initial diagnosis and had prioritized my car to be looked at next day. He also gave me assurance that it was unlikely to be a serious issue. He even gave me a lift to East Croydon station so I could get home to Sussex. Keith called me at 11.15am next morning and explained clearly what was wrong with the car and what the cost of repair would be. I authorised the repairs and he called back at 3.45pm to say it was ready for collection. I collected the car next morning (Saturday!) and was offered a coffee. They had also fully valeted and waxed the car including putting back the mat which I had moved from the driver’s seat. Keith and Gary made a stressful and unwelcome situation into a scenario where I completed trusted them to treat me fairly and do their best by my car. I am so grateful I found them and hugely appreciate their support. There are undoubtedly cheaper garages around but if you are looking for reliable, supportive and trustworthy service I could not recommend Kinghams enough.
