I am going to be completely straight forward and honest in my experience. Frank seems knowledgeable and friendly. When I spoke to anyone on the phone or through txt they were nice and accommodating. I sent my two cockapoo pups when they were about age 6 mos. (summer 2022). I got a couple pics while they were gone during their 2 week board and train after reaching out and requesting/checking-in throughout the 2 weeks. I would have loved more, but something is better than nothing. When they were returned to me, not gonna lie, they seemed a bit scared and more timid when the trainers (who were both young/early 20 aged very polite gentlemen) were handling them and showing the commands, etc. They were returned alittle matted and stinky which made me a little worried about the care they received during the 2 weeks but I tried to convince myself that was par for course for a board and train versus being at home, especially for a breed whose coat isnt the easiest to care. I have also been disappointed by the frequency of the ongoing "group classes" in RVA that you are offered for free after the 2 week board and train. I was told the frequency would increase and they were trying to grow the RVA group classes but I have seen 1 group class offered in the past year. I was appreciative that the company did reach out via text to inform me of the class being scheduled, that was nice. With all that said, both dogs came back knowing commands for the most part despite the appearance of being scared of the trainers upon return. I do plan on attending group classes in RVA if they ever become as consistent as the NY and even the NOVA group classes seem to be.

I rescued a crazy, stubborn hound mix in 2008. He ran rings around me. Jami’s Veterinarian saw the need for a trainer & recommended Frank. Frank started Jami on weekly sessions with one of his trainers and at the same time I was being trained, too. After 2 weeks Jami and I were living in almost perfect harmony. While Frank & his staff taught us the basics, as the owner, I worked with Jami during the week. On weekends we went to group class for additional training & socialization with the almost 30+ dogs at class. Frank is passionate dog trainer who expects the owners to give our dogs the best life possible. Franks works with other trainers constantly learning new methods & philosophies always looking to improve BFDT. I am now training my third dog with Frank and that crazy, stubborn hound mix in two years became a Certified Therapy Dog visiting hospital patients. In the 15 years Ive known Frank, the circle of life has brought previous dog owners back with their new “best friends”, friendships are renewed. Because of our dogs we now have lasting friendships. Enlisting Frank Bonomo to help me train that crazy, stubborn hound mix was the best decision I ever made.

Ignore the obviously fake reviews, BFDT is a great team. I have a huge, dumb and stubborn Am. Bulldog and he has done training with Frank and his team and he was transformed. I wasn't the best at maintaining all that good work (just being honest) and they boarded Banksy and did "refresher" training. (They pick up and deliver your dog home.) He went nuts when he saw Frank. I can't believe he remembered him, but he did. They sent pics of Banksy while we were away, and gave progress updates. My husband calls them the dog whisperers. BFDT dogs have playdates and meet up as well for group walks. It feels like a community and for Banksy it's like going to camp.

I have been using BF for close to 12 years now, first with my littermates who had some difficulty getting along. I was taught to manage the situation to where they learned to co-exist well together and other dogs through the group classes where each went from dog reactive, to dog tolerant to even dog curious by trying to make friends with the other dogs. I was amazed. Those two are long gone and now I'm on my new three who love the training and love the classes where they get to see their friends (as do I!) A group of us walk after class and and meet up for walks outside of class and picnics together. This was the best decision I made, hiring BF and becoming part of the BF family. Here's a shot from one of our picnics in a park taken just after our group class.

Best Friend's Dog Training is a dog trainer.
