Customer experiences
I've only been a community member for BFP for a short time but my experience so far has been good. Members are encouraged to be open and learn and the voices of those who need it most ( like BIPOC)are centered. Kindness is encouraged but harm is dealt with as effectively as possible and with strong community effort. It's not just about education but action as well starting at a personal level. I can see how joining BFP has made members lives better and the founder Reaux puts maximum efforts into fostering the community she started. Highly recommend joining if you want a start in activism and staying for the amount of effort that goes into everything presented and done by the teams.
BFP is a wonderful organization. they're inclusive and welcoming regardless of where you come from or who you are, and always willing to help educate people. everyone who volunteers is so lovely and i truly feel they have helped me grow in my activism and as a person.
I've had a wonderful experience as a community member and volunteer for BFP - the other members there are very welcoming and accommodating, and are all working towards clear, actionable goals. If you're looking to volunteer or self-educate on justice across the board, I would highly recommend this organisation. :)
I lurked here for a while before becoming a registered volunteer for the community a few months ago. I really adore it for multiple reasons: 1. By far, the greatest strength is dedicated spaces for political education with many advocates striving to educate others, a good quantity being multiply marginalized. There are gaps, but there are so many people willing to teach you the basics with channels and threads in the Discord server dedicated to topics such as caste abolition, Questions of the Days asking you to investigate your outlook/mindset in regards to privilege, identity, and oppression (much, much more) to promote growth, and I cannot list all of it. There are also study guides to learn the basics of foundational principles they're built on. It's just an incredibly organized, thoughtful organization led by Reaux, who's so utterly serious about this place. 2. Centers BIPOC voices and perspectives. You're taught about accountability, how to apologize, and it works hard to not be conflict avoidant. There are so many BIPOC who share their culture, their history, and speak about their experiences and it's just a really important, lovely safe space to hold emotions. 3. For youth participation, a lot of youth learn so much from here and they learn a lot. Youth voices are prioritized, and the committee is led. Everyone has advice and resources for the other, and it's really a wonderful place if you're feeling helpless, want to make a difference, but aren't sure how. There are many tasks you can do, and people who can you help you do them. I learned a lot listening to others, answering QOTDs, and I'm carrying it into my local scene. BFP has so many members from everywhere, and it adds to the wonderfulness.
