Customer experiences
This place, absolutely rocks! It’s been around forever, and the food is very authentic. The Po boys are amazing. The gumbo was surprisingly good. Hard to believe you can find this in Montana.
I think today was my last straw eating here. I’ve come here for years and this place is in a steady decline. 1. They no longer have oysters for fried oysters po boys 2. Their gumbo AND etouffée are consistently bland (I always have to doctor them up w/ all the sauces they have 3. They are usually always out of something, today it was Okra. Again. 4. I had asked for the dill aioli on my po boy, there was no hint/or sight of dill detected, so they remade it, with the same spicy aioli I had asked for on the side not on the sandwich. The guy had initially said the orangey color was because of the cheese… umm, there is NO cheese on their po boys to begin with/ so I knew that was nonsense. Anyways, if I crave Cajun cuisine, I’ll probably grab oysters from Whole Foods & make an oyster po boy, or gumbo myself cause I just spent $18/$20 dollars for some disappointment. Yet again.
Our daughter gifted us with a trip to Montana. She googled this place and according the reviews thought it be delicious New Orleans type food. The reviews didn’t disappoint! My husband had the fried catfish and fries, and I had the catfish po boy sandwich, and our daughter had the shrimp, sausage and vegetables over rice! We each tasted the other’s. The crispy well seasoned fish and fries and the dipping sauces and condiments to choose from were so delicious! My sandwich had a soft but toasty bun and good fish, lettuce, tomatoes and sauce ratio, my daughter’s creole flavored dish tasted amazing, just like New Orlean! We arrived close to opening so you place your order, get your own beverages and condiments and sit wherever you choose! We picked the right time because as soon as we got our food. The line filled up and cars were still coming when we left so good! Great atmosphere and hearty portions! Plenty of free parking!
Cute vibe and a decent size restaurant. You order at a counter upon walking in. We started with fried pickles- a regular guilty pleasure for me 🙃 they were great! I had the jambalaya and a cup of gumbo. It was all fantastic- flavors were on point. My jambalaya leftovers were also good the next day! My dining partner had the shrimp and grits- they were ok- not as fantastic as my jambalaya and gumbo. Would definitely go back!
