As I read through the Google reviews for Bozeman Counseling Center, I notice how the vast majority are very positive. While it can be justified to give negative feedback to a business, doing so for a group of mental health therapists can come with complications. Counselors face challenges that other health providers do not, such as limited staffing needed to complete necessary administrative tasks and challenges with the insurance reimbursements required to continue to provide services. Insurance companies target mental health to attempt to limit reimbursements in a way that will benefit insurance companies’ financial interests. When people leave negative reviews on Google instead of reaching out directly to the business owners, they inadvertently put up walls that dissuade and keep other individuals from reaching out for needed mental health help. I have a professional relationship with the owner of Bozeman Counseling Center, Kathryn Bowen, and know if someone were to reach out to her directly with concerns about scheduling or a therapist’s skill level, she would remedy the situation to the best of her ability. Because of HIPPA regulations, providers are not allowed to reply to reviews. By not responding they are not being dismissive or non-communicative, they simply legally cannot publicly respond. I know firsthand that Bozeman Counseling Center has an excellent reputation in the community of medical providers, other therapists, and with their clients. They provide affordable counseling options to many members of the community and do great work with hundreds of clients each week. Please do not let a review that may be directed towards one individual’s poor communication deter you from contacting this counseling center and its many other respected therapists. Make the decision for yourself after reaching out and speaking with them directly. And allow for patience as most of these types of offices have no master scheduler or receptionist like the medical groups do. Be well!
