I had a great initial experience with the campus ministry club Jesus really is the GREAT God and King that helps you discern, advocacy office was also very helpful. My another session with the mental-health counselor were unhelpful, often met with remarks that seemed to dismiss my concerns. While I did complete my program and obtain my credentials, I ultimately chose to continue my studies at a different institution. On a positive note, the lecturers, peer tutors, and staff were friendly, and the coursework was practical. However, the overall quality of student services was poor and severely limited. Whether you are an international or domestic student, you may find a more sincere, respectful, and enriching experience at other post-secondary institutions (the promise of job placement and networking is not worth it).

Today, I visited the Student Enrollment and Information Services at the Burnaby Campus around 2 PM, having taken time off work specifically for this purpose. Unfortunately, my interaction with the staff member at counter number 12 was quite disappointing. She was not only unhelpful, providing only general information readily available online, but also displayed unprofessional behavior by making faces at my inquiries. I felt dismissed and unsupported, especially when seeking guidance on financial aid and prerequisite courses. For instance, I was advised to contact the government regarding financial aid, only to later discover a BCIT-linked financial aid email. Similarly, I learned about the grant covering the English course for domestic students and the waiver of the admission fee if registering before August 31st on my own, as this information was not provided during my visit. Overall, the lack of assistance and the dismissive attitude made me feel as though my questions were unwelcome.

Around 7 people graduated this year. It was 12 at the beginning of the year. Around 30 people fail first semester. This is a program that is designed to fail students. Teachers are in trouble if the students' gpa is too high, so they have to make it harder on purpose, which is annoying. Even if you sleep 5 hours a day, it will still be a challenging program. The good thing about the program is the two fantastic teachers. The CURRENT temporary math teacher (semester 2, 2025) and the communication teacher. These two teachers are amazing and help students truly learn the subject they teach. They are praised by many students in the program.

The worst institution in the entire Metro Vancouver area. If you are considering studying here, don’t waste your time or money. BCIT is completely disorganized, communication is terrible, and their systems are set up to benefit them while students are left to lose money. My experience has been nothing but frustration and disappointment. Stay far away from BCIT, the worst academic experience I’ve ever had.
