Customer experiences
Very good gym. Excellent selection of equipment. Also nice having basketball courts and an indoor track. Love the saunas as well. Only complaints is the price tag of $98/month (if you’re not affiliated with the university) and the student employees at the front desk sometimes. But overall worth it if you can use it. Would recommend going at least four times a week to make it worth it.
They take the fun out of the climbing wall and charge you extra to start climbing. To get certified you have to pass a test that the instructor randomly administrates with required things, unless it’s a different instructor then there’s other required gym policies…. If you’re looking for the fun rock climbing vibe found in most gyms this isn’t the place.
I go to Iowa State University (yes I’m a disgusting traitor to my hometown), and I can say with confidence this Iowa gym is easily 100 times better than the Iowa State gyms. Been lifting here since high school, and it’s a very spacious gym with a lot of equipment and basically almost anything a weightlifter could ask for. The only thing I have to cry about is it’s $90/month, so I might have to switch gyms soon since my wallet won’t be able to justify that price for too much longer. If you’re a local teenager though, the reduced price of $30/month is definitely worth it and I would highly recommend it.
Vast and beautiful rec center that's open to the public. $10 for a day pass and it's well worth it. 3 basketball courts, tons of weight lifting equipment and and a recreation pool area + lap pools and giant rock walls. There is surely more but what I noticed while here! NOTE: Pools closed 1:30 to 4:30
