Where do I start! My Dad made the transition to Chartwell almost 6 years ago. He had lost the love of his life in 2012, after 59 years of marriage and managed on his own for 7 years, it was time to make a change. The transition wasn’t easy going from his family home with wonderful memories, we knew it would be hard. Dad did a 2 week trial and once he returned home, it only took a month, he knew it was what he needed. The staff are incredible, always making him feel cared about and a valued member of the Chartwell family. He loves his suite, food and above all the entertainment, he loves to dance, he’s thriving at almost 92,. I had the pleasure of partnering with Chartwell Pickering for a Valentine’s Day initiative. The staff were very friendly, supportive, and excellent communicators throughout the entire process. They made organizing and executing the event smooth and enjoyable, and their commitment to the residents really shone through!

Our relative has lived at Chartwell Pickering City Center for 1.5 years. It took her almost a year to adapt to her new situation since moving out of her house, but she has finally adjusted. The majority of the staff treat her very nicely, and are always friendly to our family members when we visit. She had a very difficult time adjusting the to the food but that may be her own taste preferences. Issues she has encountered have generally been resolved reasonably well, but it sometimes does take some persistence on behalf of herself and other family members. We chose Chartwell over other residences because of the high quality of the suite, high quality of the common areas and resident facilities (see photo of lovely lobby area), friendly staff, reasonable price and central Pickering location.
