Customer experiences
Cherry Valley Mall in Rockford, Illinois, is a nicely sized mall with a good variety of stores and very few closures, so it doesn’t feel empty. The food court offers plenty of tasty options, making it a fun spot for the whole family. It’s great for shopping, grabbing a bite, and enjoying a few hours out.
One of those rare malls that are still somewhat alive. If you want a true nostalgic experience of malling in the 90s, go here during the Christmas holiday season. It's AMAZING. There are tons of reviews from 7-8 years ago complaining of getting mugged and shootings - I didn't live in the area back then but this place has definitely been revamped and cleaned up if so. It feels incredibly safe and you even have the elderly mall walkers wandering around.
been coming here all of my life, and unsure that ill be coming back any time soon. not because i dont want to, but because i cannot safely do so. this has nothing to do with the crime issues, which are ever prevalent. this has to do with the lack of air conditioning. stores shouldnt have to individually cool their own shops, and as a customer of your mall, i shouldnt have to risk coming in and fainting because the air isnt regulated. i am currently covered in sweat in barnes and noble, the only slightly cold shop, so i dont pass out outside. please consider your disabled community, even if you are a corporation.
Cherryvale Mall – A Shadow of Its Former Self ★★★☆☆ Cherryvale Mall in Rockford, Illinois, used to be the go-to spot for shopping, entertainment, and a bit of socializing, but lately, it’s been feeling like a shadow of its former self. While it still offers a range of stores and some nostalgic vibes, the overall experience has started to deteriorate over time. The mall’s location and layout remain strong, and it still houses a few popular retailers, making it a decent spot for a quick trip. However, the upkeep seems to be slipping. Many areas feel outdated, and some parts of the mall appear a bit run down. The once vibrant atmosphere has been replaced by empty storefronts, with a noticeable lack of foot traffic. Even the food court, once buzzing with energy, now seems a bit lackluster. Cherryvale is far from a terrible place—it’s still a convenient spot if you need to pick up essentials or take a stroll, but it’s no longer the lively shopping center it once was. Hopefully, with some renovations and new management, the mall can regain its charm and vitality. For now, though, it’s just an average place to shop—nothing more, nothing less.
