We saw this place just walking around this beautiful old capital of Canada. Night fell and we went with our guts and went here for dinner. Was the best dinner out of our holidays. We both got the steak and it was perfect. The staff were so nice, food came fast and was so cozy and warm. Thank you Bromyen (hope I got the spelling correct) was so nice to us. This place is a gem!

Went here for lunch. The ambiance is absolutely amazing: warm fireplace, old stone walls, tapestry, very friendly service. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by our waiter as well as by the food. Despite his exceptionally friendly attitude, our waiter seemed to be having a rough day - he didn't tell us that there was a special of the day (we only heard it when he was explaining it to the table besides us), he forgot to give us bread until the end of our meal, and he never came back to refill my cup with water after I asked. When it comes to the food, the menu is all over the place: vietnamese, canadian, italian, latino-american. Weird combination of cuisines, especially for the setting. Lacks cohesion. I tried the Tom Yum Talay and it was not a pleasant experience. I'm normally used to decently spicy food, but that soup was SPICY spicy. Like, pain all over my mouth. And since the waiter had forgotten to bring us bread, the experience of eating it was anything but pleasant. My partner had gotten the fishcakes, which were okay but personally I found them a bit bland. Maybe I found them bland because their flavor profile clashed so strongly with the Tom Yum Talay, which was a flavour bomb. Again, I think the menu could use more cohesion. Maybe there are better dishes on the menu, but our personal experience as a whole wasn't great. Based on this experience, I think that the high rating of this restaurant is more correlated to its aesthetics rather than on the actual food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Piggy in Kingston, and overall, the experience was fantastic with just a few minor areas for improvement. Firstly, the atmosphere here is truly special—warm, cozy, and inviting, creating the perfect setting whether you’re dining out with friends, family, or on a special date. From the moment you step inside, you sense that it’s a place with history and character, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food itself. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The oysters, in particular, were outstanding—fresh, juicy, briny, and honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re a seafood lover, these oysters alone justify a visit. The menu offers an impressive range of dishes, blending creativity with familiar comforts, and each item we tried surpassed expectations. However, one area where Chez Piggy could improve significantly is in the quality of their service. While the staff weren’t unfriendly, our server seemed a bit inattentive and disengaged at times. It felt like we were waiting longer than necessary between courses, and there was a notable lack of attentiveness, especially considering how excellent everything else was. Given the overall quality of the dining experience, it’s clear that the restaurant would greatly benefit from enhanced staff training and a more attentive service approach. Despite this, the incredible quality of the food and charming atmosphere ultimately overshadowed the service shortcomings. I genuinely enjoyed my time at Chez Piggy, and with just a bit more attention to detail in service, this could easily be one of the top dining experiences in Kingston. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Chez Piggy for their exceptional oysters and thoughtfully prepared dishes. Just go prepared for a possibly slower pace of service. I’m optimistic that with improved service standards, Chez Piggy could easily become the go-to spot in Kingston for a truly memorable dining experience.
