On a recent Wednesday evening around 8PM, a representative from Cima Solutions was actively soliciting in our neighborhood in Murfreesboro, despite our entrances being clearly posted with No Soliciting and No Trespassing signs. When I first approached him, I politely informed him that our neighborhood does not allow soliciting and even showed him a photo of the large sign he had to pass upon entering. He acknowledged he was soliciting and claimed he hadn’t seen the sign. I made it clear that he was now informed and expected to leave. Instead of leaving, he told me to “have a nice day” and continued on to solicit at several more homes on his Segway. I caught up with him again shortly afterward and he insisted that they were permitted to solicit in Murfreesboro. I called our HOA manager on speakerphone during that conversation, who confirmed that solicitation is only permitted in non-posted neighborhoods, meaning he was in clear violation. He said he was only visiting homes with lights on to avoid disturbing anyone, particularly families with babies. I explained that a lit home doesn’t mean it’s an appropriate time—ringing the doorbell or knocking can easily disturb sleeping children or trigger barking dogs. He admitted they typically stop when it gets dark, and by this time it was so he called for someone to come pick him up. On top of that, he rode his Segway through yards, which left noticeable grooves in the wet grass. These signs of property damage were visible in several areas and were particularly frustrating given recent rainfall and soft ground. Several neighbors posted similar concerns and Ring footage on our neighborhood Facebook group, with many expressing frustration at how he behaved around their homes until told to leave. This experience was disappointing and unprofessional. I hope Cima Solutions will take this feedback seriously and ensure their representatives are trained to respect posted signage, property, and residents' privacy moving forward.
