My husband and I first dined at Cochon several years ago, and I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to return since I no longer eat pork or beef. But just like our first visit, the restaurant did not disappoint. The food is exactly as I remembered—well seasoned, flavorful, and simply delicious. We ordered a wide range of dishes to share, and every plate delivered. The meal began with complimentary warm rolls and butter, followed by okra and stewed tomatoes (oh my gosh—yum!) and peaches with cured pork belly. From the wood fire, the Gulf fish (red snapper) was perfectly cooked, and the oysters with chili butter were rich and indulgent. The cucumber and herbs salad leaned vinegar-forward, which I loved for its brightness. At the table, others enjoyed the grilled pork neck, macaroni and cheese, chicken and andouille sausage, green beans, and grilled sirloin with potatoes. Even with my dietary restrictions, I found plenty of satisfying options. Dessert was a smorgasbord worth mentioning on its own: watermelon sorbet, banana pudding, pineapple upside-down cake, apple pie, and the standout—a miniature loaf of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Each sweet treat felt like the perfect ending to an already memorable meal. Cochon remains one of those restaurants that stays true to its roots while delivering consistent quality. Whether it’s your first time or a return visit, it’s a dining experience worth savoring.

Great meal! Wood fired oven adds a subtle smoky flavor to the food. We had wood fired oysters ( gluten free) catfish courtbouillon ( gluten free), tomatoes and okra ( gluten free) and beef brisket. Everything was excellent. I appreciate that they listed all their gluten free items on a separate menu. The atmosphere is relaxed and our server was great.

The service…Nick W was our waiter and was phenomenal in all ways. Kind spirited and seemingly enjoyed his job! He made our dining experience incredible! The food…we had rabbit n dumplings, smothered Lima beans, shrimp stew, and pan-seared grouper with a beer and old-fashion. Every. Single. Thing. sat in front of us was delicious. 10/10 recommend!

It was our first restaurant in New Orleans for dinner. The menu features authentic New Orleanian cuisine with dishes that, at first glance, may seem unusual, but in reality they are unique and full of the typical flavors of Creole cooking. The restaurant has two entrances on parallel streets, which is very convenient. The place itself is quite spacious, with plenty of room for many tables. The staff takes care of you as soon as you walk in, and everyone is very friendly, always ready to help and explain the dishes if you have any doubts. The bread is absolutely AMAZING – one of the best we’ve ever had. Dishes are fairly priced for what you get. Definitely recommended!
