We booked a simple cleaning for my husband, who was a new patient, and were shocked to receive a $664 bill for a list of procedures we never consented to — including a full oral exam, multiple X-rays, fluoride treatment, polishing, and 3 units of scaling. The scaling alone was billed at $200 for 45 minutes — yet the entire appointment only lasted 48 minutes total (from 12:00 to 12:48). That means they’re claiming to have done 45 minutes of scaling while also somehow fitting in X-rays, a full exam, fluoride, and polishing — all in under 3 minutes. That’s completely implausible. There was no treatment plan presented, no cost breakdown, and no consent for anything beyond a cleaning. When I followed up, the front desk refused a refund and claimed they “tried to call us” ahead of time — yet we received no calls, no voicemails, no messages. And most importantly, they had my husband right there in person and said nothing before proceeding. We’ll be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. New patient or not, informed consent is non-negotiable, and billing nearly $700 without it is unethical. Patients deserve honesty, not surprise bills and excuses.
