I’ve been a loyal client at this salon for over a year, but my first interaction with Steph stylist was enough to make me question staying. On the phone, she couldn’t even answer a basic question about price. Instead, she kept dodging, repeating that she “didn’t know” without a consultation. I asked five times in different ways; offering to send photos for reference and still got nothing but attitude. When she finally snapped back that “consultations are important,” it only highlighted her lack of awareness, because I was never given the option to book one in the first place. The receptionist scheduled me directly. Instead of taking ownership or making me feel welcomed as a new client, she made it sound like my business was an inconvenience. What stood out most was her energy: not warm, not professional, not inviting. She spoke as though doing my hair was a burden, forgetting that clients like me are the reason she has work at all. A professional with true confidence knows how to put a client at ease; instead, she made me feel like I was wasting her time. A stylist should project skill, clarity, and enthusiasm. She projected none of that - only defensiveness and attitude. And when someone hides behind excuses instead of providing solutions, it says more about their insecurity than anything else.

I found out about Lena and Doria when hunting for affordable professional hair stylists/colourists for men. I’m so grateful I ended up getting Lena because I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. Lena knew everything, but she wasn’t complicated or dismissive about it. She made it simple and we were always on the same page. Besides that, she was super warm, fun, and listened carefully. Importantly, she didn’t try to upsell me. I was also pleasantly surprised by how chill Doria was: It’s not a pretentious place, but my new hair speaks for itself. Any men needing an experienced stylist who communicates well will be safe with Lena. I’m going back for sure.
