We highly recommend Parker Pet Care-West Hill. We were coming from out-of-town to attend a function but our young pup wasn't used to being crated for several hours. Just days before the event, we found Parker Pet Care-West Hill. They came to our rescue with their easy on-line client information pre-registration. When we arrived, the staff were friendly, very engaging with our pup, and suggested a free trial day! After a stay of only a few hours we appreciated the detailed report card and many pictures of our pup having fun doing various activities independently and with other pups. But we were most impressed by the care and attention staff paid to our shy pup's first time; giving her extra cuddle time and matching her with pups of similar temperament. Dog owners in the area are very fortunate to have access to a facility like Parker Pet Care-West Hill.
My family has been using Parker’s for a few years now to board our puppies while we are on vacation. At the end of August we had 3 puppies who we boarded for 1 week. When we got home, we realized that one of our dogs had a very bad cough. Since it was too late to take him to the vet, we waited until the next morning at which point he had developed a severe eye infection along with the cough from the night before. We saw the vet who informed us it was Kennel Cough and gave us the proper medication which totalled $400. For the following 2 days, even with the antibiotics, our dog was coughing up blood and his eyes were weeping constantly. My dad thought he would reach out to the facility to let them know about this and to see if there was anything they could do about it. The kennel staff blew him off and said nothing could’ve prevented this and that it wasn’t their fault. He thought that maybe they would help him out since he has been a loyal customer and we had just spent collectively $1200 to board our dogs while we were away. After this interaction I would not recommend. I understand that things happen and dogs can contract illnesses like humans but for the staff to not even care about something like this happening at their facility when we are trusting them with some of our most prized possessions leads me to question how the dogs are treated in their care. After all of the years of loyalty and money spent, the fact that they couldn’t even offer a couple free days on our next visit to compensate for the fact that our dog contracted something and handled the situation better is pretty abysmal in my opinion. I only have the one photo of the infection but it got more infected after this and was like that for almost a week straight.
My dog always gets excited as soon as I drive into their lot. It's clearly one of his happy places. We bring him periodically for daycare and overnights. We added the enrichment training to his daycare visits and those helped. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, patient, and seem to really know him. They try to match him with a similar temperament playmate during outdoor activity time. Our dog is clearly having a blast in the photos from his overnight stays. It's disappointing when they sometimes forget to take them. Communication is otherwise good. There's air conditioning inside so the pets are comfortable when it's sweltering. One time only outside spots were available but they made sure to tell me before I booked. Since it was a cooler day and all the outdoor kennels have shade and are well ventilated, it was fine, but I appreciated having the choice regarding my dog's comfort.
