I have been attending Ottawa Pain Management & Wellness (formerly Ottawa Chiropractic & Osteopathy) since April 2024, after randomly finding them on a Google search. From my first telephone consult until present time, Dr King has helped me get back to feeling normal. I had been having debilitating bouts of dizziness that left me unable to drive, walk straight, or just simply get out of bed most days. I had seen other specialists, but it was Dr King who literally got me back on my feet and eventually back to work, something I thought was never going to happen again. My child has also been treated at OPMW. Both Dr King and Isabel are incredibly caring, knowledgeable in their respective fields, and lovely human beings, who really want to help people feel better. I feel very thankful to have stumbled upon them, and will continue to recommend their services to others.

I do not recommend Ottawa Pain Management & Wellness Clinic based on both my experience as a patient and as someone who worked there. People deserve to know the truth about the treatments and practices here. From the start, I found their approach alarming. The practitioners present themselves as medical professionals, yet often discourage the use of vaccines, medications, and standard medical treatments. They promote one-size-fits-all solutions such as neuromodulation treatments, claiming they help with nearly every illness. During my time as a patient, I was treated for a lower back injury and was told I had neuropathy, a high fall risk, and permanent loss of reflexes. They even warned me that without their help, I’d be crippled in 10 years. Concerned, I went to my family doctor, who quickly proved these claims were unfounded. She also reminded me that neuropathy cannot be diagnosed by a simple reflex test, as they had done. I worked for David and Isabel for about 3 months, during which they treated me for free. At first, I thought this was generous, but I later realized it created a conflict of interest since I had also provided them with my full medical history. I was later told by my family doctor that it is not appropriate—or even legal—for them to give medical advice in the way they were doing. Another deeply troubling aspect was their attitude toward mental health. When I disclosed that I live with a mental illness, I was told repeatedly that it was “all in my head” and could be “fixed” through their treatment. They openly dismissed antidepressants as a “hoax” and encouraged me to stop taking them. Instead of showing understanding, they would make comments like “how’s your head?”—something that felt stigmatizing and dismissive. The treatments themselves, including shockwave therapy and electromagnetotransduction, were extremely aggressive. I was left in pain so severe that I could barely move at home. They reassured me this was “normal” and a sign the therapy was working. Yet, when I stopped treatment after leaving the clinic, my pain and depression lifted, and I returned to feeling like myself again. There are also issues with business practices and professionalism. For example, I witnessed a very unusual situation where a man paid for services with a ring, which was accepted as payment by Isabel and somehow recorded in their system. On the other hand, there were clients who hadn’t paid in months, yet I was told not to worry about it. Pricing and payments were inconsistent, taxes were applied irregularly, and overall there was no transparency, consistency, or organization. Most concerning, I learned that patient data from visits was being fed into AI systems to generate treatment plans and reports, rather than being developed from their own professional assessment. This raises serious ethical questions about accountability and accuracy. Finally, I couldn’t help but notice that many of their patients had been coming for years. If the treatments are as effective and “cutting-edge” as advertised, why would people need to keep returning indefinitely? In summary, my experience showed me that this clinic relies on questionable medical claims, dismisses mental health, uses aggressive treatments that caused me harm, and employs business practices that lack transparency. While others may have had different experiences, I cannot recommend this clinic in good faith. People deserve safe, ethical, and evidence-based care—and I did not find that here.

I came to Dr King with a sting of symptoms that many doctors could not seem to help me with. After a thorough assessment, he was able to identify some key issues with my body that we were then able to start treating. Since being with Dr King and Isobel, I have lost most of my pain, and gained a huge amount of benefits including more energy, better balance and more strength. The experience truly has been life changing. I will continue to see them as issues arise because I know I will be heard and supported in finding healing options.
