Wanted to love it, but left a bit underwhelmed This place has loads of glowing reviews, and I really wanted to like it. The building itself has an old-world charm, and the menu covers all the Serbian classics you’d expect. However, the overall experience felt a little dated—from the decor to the worn menus and slow service. The staff spoke English well and the menu was easy to follow, which I appreciated. The food took a while to arrive and was served mostly warm, not hot. All in all, it wasn’t bad—but in a city like Belgrade, where the food scene is genuinely exciting, this spot just didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.
While some might say it very touristy, we had the best time here!! It’s a bit loud, so don’t expect to be able to have a deep conversation with your companions, but it’s a romping good time! You will be serenaded at your seat (bring some cash for tips). We loved the big mezze or appetizer plate to sample a lot of different things. We also got a steak that was cooked to perfection.
- [ ] We got to the restaurant at 3:15 pm on a Monday afternoon, it was quite open so no need for reservation at this time and day. Everything we ordered here tasted amazing! For drinks we got a shot of Zlatne Rakije Honey. For Hot Appetizers we got Punjene Pohovane Paprike or Breaded Stuffed Peppers, we really wanted to get it because it was stuffed with the famous Urnebes Salad. We also got Stuffed Cabbage! As a salad we got Sopska Salata which is Shopska Salad. For the main course we ordered Karadoradeva Snicla or Steak Karadorde which is breaded pork steak roll stuffed with kajmak. We also ordered Proja which is Homemade Cornbread, the waiter tried to talk us out of it but we insisted... we probably should have listened to him. Anyways the Urnebes Salad in the peppers tasted amazing, the Shopska Salad was nice with the excess cheese and then the Steak Karadorde was so rich and buttery! Amazing food and nice to try this TasteAtlas restaurant. Also you can pay in cash or card.
