Customer experiences
Very nice and convenient Walmart location right off the 407 in Markham. It’s pretty large and has a huge selection of products and services. The employees are very nice and helpful. This location is real busy so finding parking can difficult most of the times especially during the weekend.
I had a very disappointing experience at the Box Grove Walmart location today. An employee named Anna provided noticeably different customer service to me and my daughter, compared to how she treated another customer just before us. She was smiling, friendly, and joking with the white customer ahead of us. But when it was our turn—both of us visible minorities—her entire demeanor changed. No smile, no greeting, no “thank you,” and a noticeably cold attitude. The contrast in treatment was clear and deeply upsetting. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable in a country like Canada, where we value diversity and equal treatment. I hope Walmart takes incidents like this seriously and provides proper training and accountability to ensure all customers are treated with respect and dignity.
I wouldn't recommend. Dirty and not taken care of. They try to make you stop before coming. Fruits and vegetables should be avoided. They are not going to make. Lines get long and nobody seems in a hurry to fix it. Prices are fine and parking’s easy, but the store just feels messy and kinda unorganized. Not the worst place, but definitely not like it used to be.
Be careful purchasing at this Walmart. On more than one occasion, the item rang up at the cashier at a higher price than the sticker price posted. This has happened twice this past month where it was brought to the attention of Manga, a store manager. Both times I brought Manga to where the item was found, showed her the sticker that it was related to - which matched the item both times. Both times she said something about "people moving products to the wrong place", when description on the tag matched the item and the Walmart item matched. I felt like I was being treated like a thief. The funny thing is, if someone was moving items - why did she have to rip off the sticker both times quickly? I have a picture of both since I often forget the price and match everything up when checking out. First time, she tried to tell me that I moved the product and the last digit of the bar code didn't match. Despite me asking where was the product was actually suppose to be so I could see the price tag, she didn't answer me, returned my product to the shelf and ripped of the price sticker on the hanging shelf. Second time this happened, she once again tried to tell me that the product was not the same as the sticker despite the bar code and Walmart item matching up. She promptly ripped off the sticker and allowed a price adjustment to the sticker even though she should have taken $10 off. I reported this to the Retail Council as I didn't appreciate being treated like this.
