Espresso Quartier

[dislaimer: some parts of my opinion may seem to be critical, but my primary opinion is: I will be back, I am going to be back, I loved my experience and I have a desire to have more of it ;)]. It’s a very nice and cozy place on the map of Maastricht. It’s spacious and the decoration (and the whole design of the interior) is calming, welcoming and the lights are just right to me - while being bright and natural, they can’t be felt as too bright or pointing in the eyes. The music is also quieter in most places these days, which also makes it more welcoming. The personnel is also kind and helpful and open to talk with, they can help both in Dutch and in English (at least the persons I talked to). The addition of fresh flowers is great and rarely present in other café’s. I’m looking forward to the opening hours in the evening because there is a lack of places to sit and chat after 5PM without necessarily having dinner or clubbing. The only thing I felt I needed was a place to hang my jacket. It wasn’t wet today but it’s a rare occasion and were it wet I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting it on the beautiful and comfortable sofas ;). Some parts of the floor show their history in form of some marks, it’s not the prettiest and creates an impression of “dirty” but I advise not to pay attention to that, the place is very clean, and well taken care of - there is even a carpet! One mental note I have made is that places that are by design communal (the big table) use high chairs, that could pose a difficulty for some folks; that being said, there are many other places, also with sockets that opt for regular chairs, also with softer seats and high back support, and there are also already mentioned sofas if someone needs a place that allows for a more “laid back” position (it would even make it more accessible to people with chronic back issues if there were some cushions here and there - used often to make the seat more comfortable or less painful e.g. for some after spinal fusion). Unfortunately, the toilet is down one step without a ramp, it is also rather on the small side - I don’t think a wheelchair would fit in the cabin, but it is definitely one of the bigger ones of the small ones :)). The coffee was really enjoyable and tasty, I was drinking cappuccino, I also tasted a matcha and an americano - all drinks were equally pleasant. There was yet no option for a filter and I’m definitely looking forward to it and tasting some more coffee! I tasted two baked goods - carrot cake and banana bread - the carrot cake was moist but it had an awesome crunchy outside; banana bread was also nice and had the same crunch I loved. Neither felt too sweet but both definitely had a lot of flavor to them to explore. The details are what made it a definite yes and a 5 to me - the details in design, the smiles and kindness of the staff, the taste of coffee and baked goods, the living plants and lack of noise, bright lights and loud music made it for me.

loved loved loved the scrambled tofu!! the coffee was amazing as well, but for the price a bit small in my opinion. will definitely come back though!

Cute coffee place for a study session or chat. The music isn’t too loud and there is plenty of space, however plugs are very limited, I had to leave because of it :( The lemon lavender cake was spot on, but when it comes to coffee, I’d like to have the option for double cappuccino, it was quite small compared to other places. Might come again since there are very few options for places like this in the city center
