I enjoy shopping here. The prices are good. The staff is good. The self checkouts are a bit tricky to figure out though, so the person in charge has a lot to deal with. They might not be scanning your foods, but they are dealing with the machines and questions constantly. The store is clean and the food is good quality. There are always specials and good merchandising.

The manager of this store is so friendly and helpful. He is always on the floor working. He checks on his employees. He’s positive and up beat. The store is always clean and the friendliest staff. I drive from Frankford to shop here. It’s worth the drive. Thank you to the manager for caring about your store, employees and us patrons.

I had another disappointing experience at this Food Basics location. At the self-checkout, the staff member on duty — JESSE (with PINK/PURPLE-Colored hair) — shouted at me and my friend when we tried to redeem our points and the system didn’t work. This isn’t the first time; she often acts rude and unhelpful whenever we shop here. Instead of assisting customers and being helpful, she behaves in a very unwelcoming way and makes the experience stressful and unpleasant. In fact, she makes shopping here so painful that even though we live within walking distance, we often avoid this store entirely because she can ruin our whole day. At other stores like FreshCo, Walmart, or No Frills, staff are generally friendly, approachable, and happy to help, which makes a big difference. Unfortunately, her behavior ruins the shopping experience at this location. I strongly request the store manager to consider replacing her with someone more joyful, approachable, and helpful at the self-checkout area to ensure customers have a better experience. If that’s not possible, at least provide her with proper support for her mental health or psychological issues(I suspect troubled childhood) so she can treat customers with respect.
