Friday Harbour Resort

What a lovely place! We rented a small condo through VRBO in between Christmas and New Year’s. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate so we didn’t get to look around as much as we had wanted. Nevertheless, we had an amazing time. It’s such a pretty place… We have since decided to keep Friday Harbour on our summer bucket list to visit. This time of year, though, was magical - the placed was fully decorated for the holidays ~ Beautiful decorations! We tried a few of the restaurants during our stay; you truly can’t go wrong with any of them. Culinary bliss! Our favourite is the Lake Club by far!

I visited Friday Harbour Resort last year for the Christmas Market, and the decorations were truly beautiful and festive. The massive tree at the centre of the harbour is a magnificent centrepiece. I also appreciated that the site included beautiful Chanukah decorations, which I haven’t seen anywhere else, and I wanted to acknowledge the thoughtfulness. I was surprised by a few aspects that made the experience a bit underwhelming: the resort was smaller than I expected, there were very few activities on site during the Christmas Market, attendance was low even on a weekend, and the activities felt more commercialized than festive. I do want to return for the opening of the Christmas Market. Based on what I’ve seen online, it appears to be a more lively event, with a larger crowd, and I sense the fireworks over the water would be especially beautiful.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Friday Harbor Christmas Market delivered a solid holiday experience. Well organized, great setup, and a good mix of vendors and activities. The standout feature was the free Santa photo in front of the massive Christmas tree — a great touch and easily the best part of the event. It’s a nice option for families or anyone looking to enjoy a classic Christmas market atmosphere. 🎄📸
