I am very satisfied with my treatment by Devlin at MapleCare Physiotherapy. My doctor prescribed physiotherapy after diagnosing my knee pain as bursitis. Devlin assessed me, and recommended five sessions of treatment. He provided ultrasonic treatment to reduce inflation, massaged my knee, and taped it at each session. He also provided exercises for me to do at home. Although I am still continuing with the exercises at home to build up the knee's strength, the pain is dramatically reduced. Over a year ago, I had a stroke that paralyzed the left side of my body. This affected my left leg and arm, as well as my speech. While at the stroke rehab centre, I initially began to regain slight movement in my left leg along with some speech improvement. However, after a couple of months, there was no progress in my left shoulder, arm, or hand, which remained paralyzed. According to my neurological medical team, the prognosis was poor: they believed I was unlikely to regain any movement in my left arm and would only achieve partial movement in my left leg. This outcome would have severely limited my independence and left me reliant on others for care. Having always been an active and independent person, I refused to accept this dire prognosis. After being discharged from the rehab centre, I sought additional treatment and was fortunate to be referred to Mona and her team at MapleCare Physiotherapy & Neuro Rehab Centre. Mona became my guardian angel—she and her dedicated team were absolutely instrumental in my post-stroke recovery. Their expertise in neurological physiotherapy, neuro-rehabilitation, and neuro-developmental treatment quite literally changed the course of my life. Mona developed a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan tailored to every stage of my recovery. At each phase, she set specific goals to improve mobility, function, and strength. Early on, she introduced exercises designed to stimulate neuro-activity in my left shoulder, arm, hand, and fingers. After just a few weeks of intensive therapy, I was thrilled to begin experiencing sensation and slight movement in my left upper limb. With each week of therapy, I started to regain some more movement. Over the past ten months of intensive therapy with Mona and her team, and through my own consistent practice of the prescribed exercises at home, I have regained significant mobility and function in my entire left arm. We also worked diligently to improve the flexibility and strength of my left leg. On occasions when I couldn’t travel to the Welland location, Mona’s team even came to my home to ensure I didn’t miss a session. Their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond truly set them apart. Thanks to their dedicated efforts, I can now move my entire upper limb, including my fingers, and I am able to walk confidently without a cane. A major milestone in my recovery was having my driver’s license reinstated and I have resumed driving recently. Throughout this journey, Mona has been an inspiring coach who helped me maintain a positive outlook every step of the way. I wholeheartedly recommend Mona and her incredible team at MapleCare Physiotherapy & Neuro Rehab Centre.
