Got gas and some amazing jerky. Exotic jerky from buffalo to venison. I will always stop when passing by.

Garvin Store has really went to the crapper these days. Used to go there all the time and it’s always been good. I’m a local too. They used to have great Sliced Brisket sandwiches and sausage wraps. The last few times I’ve been there they he sandwiches and wraps have gone to shit. I chalked it off to just a bad stroke of luck that day. Today I stopped there, got a BBQ Sandwich, a sausage wrap and a Coke. $31.00. I was thought, wow! And paid the guy. Got in my truck to go back to work on the ranch and pulled out the sandwich. You couldn’t even see the meat on it. I opened it up to add some pickles and onions and there was literally zero meat on it. I had about 6 slices in the sandwich, sliced like on #1 or #2 from the HEB Deli. No meat whatsoever. It was 100% fat! Gross. I put it back in the bag and pulled out the wrap. When I took the foil off, I had this little super thin tortilla that when I picked it up, crumbled all to pieces. I hate to complain but I don’t make much and all I ask is just a little value in my purchase. Get what and how things are advertised. Is that asking too much. Apparently so. It’s been a good run Garvin Store, but you have lost this customer. I can understand when something just doesn’t go right sometimes but it’s been a pretty common trend these days.

Vince and Tom, the guys that run the place, are some solid Texans through and through. Stopped in here about four years ago and always take some time to check in and hang out with the boys when I’m down there bowhunting. They make a hell of a brisket sandwich and top shelf jerky. I see some people complaining about prices, but it’s literally the only place to get gas and snacks for miles so what do you expect. The store being isolated means less traffic for them compared to other gas stations so they gotta get their money when they can.

Very interesting place to stop by and visit. The 'Best Jerky in Texas" sign and exotic meat options (elk, red deer, etc.) is what lured us in. Meat priced reasonably, lot of different items/souvenirs available, and the peacocks were a pleasant surprise. Definitely not the best (or biggest selection) jerky in state, but quite good. I'd recommend the Honey Turkey.
