Our first trip to the SteelYard and we liked it. Plenty of good seats. They also had picnic tables and a grassy area that were available. All the employees were friendly and helpful. For an independent league stadium they had a good selection of food options. Pizza, pierogi's, pretzels and all of the usual ballpark options. Lots of adult beverages. The gift shop was spacious and had a decent selection. One neat thing we noticed was that the seats are angles towards the infield. We enjoyed our time here and recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Extremely fun place to go for a ball game. We had alot of fun and the food there was really good too. 7th inning stretch running the outfield was awesome too. You can sit anywhere at this place and it will never be a bad seat either.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats Stadium is such a fun and family-friendly place to spend an afternoon or evening! The atmosphere is always lively but never overwhelming, which makes it a great spot whether you’re a big baseball fan or just looking for something different to do with friends or family. There’s really not a bad seat in the house—the stadium has that cozy, community feel where you’re close enough to the action to really enjoy the game without feeling lost in a huge crowd. One of the things we love most is how affordable it is compared to larger sporting events. Tickets, concessions, and even souvenirs are all reasonably priced, so it feels like something you can do more than just once in a while without breaking the bank. The food is surprisingly good for a ballpark too—classic stadium eats like hot dogs and nachos, plus some fun extras depending on the night. They also do a great job keeping things entertaining beyond just the game itself. Between innings, there are fun little contests, games, and music to keep the energy up, and they often have theme nights or special promotions that make the experience even more memorable. Kids especially seem to love it—there’s plenty to keep them engaged so the whole family has a good time. Parking and access are pretty easy as well, which is a huge plus compared to bigger venues. You can actually enjoy the event without the stress of long lines or crazy traffic, which makes the whole outing feel more relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, the RailCats Stadium is such a hidden gem in the Region. It’s affordable, fun, and filled with good energy—a perfect mix of baseball, community, and family fun. Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan or just looking for a new way to spend a summer evening, it’s definitely worth checking out! ⚾
