Customer experiences
We were here in November and couldn't say enough about it. The location overlooking the canal was beautiful. We were there mid afternoon on a Saturday and it was busy so at peak times a reservation would probably be a good idea. Service was really good. George was our server. They were accommodating to be dairy free. The food we had was delicious. Highly recommend the souvlaki and moussaka. Both come with salad.
I went to this place after hiking Niagara Glen with 2 others last weekend. The place was busy since it was near dinner time and there was a wait-list (20-25 minutes). The restaurant was cozy and the staff very friendly. The portion sizes were quite large, my friends ordered calamari, chicken souvlaki dinner, & I ordered the gyro dinner. Everything tasted delicious and authentic, one of the best Greek foods I had in a while. The rice was cooked perfectly, the meat, and the house made taziki sauce was amazing! I would definitely recommend this place if you're in this area.
We had lunch here on a Friday and the patio was packed happy customers enjoying their food and beautiful view of the river. The menu offers great variety of Greek cuisine and is split into lunch and dinner menu. We ordered “Saganaki” for appetizer and “Kebob Combo” and “Octopus Dinner” for main. We also enough the complimentary Greek Salad served with Garlic Bread. Dinner menu is served with the sides of potatoes, salad and rice and the portions are generous. We replaced potatoes and rice with cooked vegetables. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. For dessert, we ordered the delicious “Baklava Sundae” and enjoyed Greek Baklava with vanilla ice cream. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The staff are friendly, especially George made our lunch memorable.
What a pleasant surprise finding this hidden oasis nestled below the highway and the scenic Welland Canal. The lunch menu was reasonable and it had a varied selection. The portions were fair and colourful, although it could have used a bit more flavourful spice but the delicious desert with phillo pastry and vanilla creme with shredded coconut (Kataifi) was amazing and made up for it all. The enclosed patio unfortunately cannot be reserved, was very scenic, but a bit too chilly for november weather, however it still felt like a great fall afternoon getaway, watching the ships come in, while sipping on a warm specialty coffee.
George's Greek Village is a greek restaurant.
