My $720 oil change at Valvoline I went to Valvoline at 2000 Main St. in Norman two weeks ago and got an oil change for $83. I always felt it was overpriced, but they do it quickly, so I didn’t complain. Since I got the oil change, my van had been spilling oil left and right. I went to my mechanic to figure out the problem, and he asked me who did my last oil change. He told me Valvoline overtightened the drainplug which stripped the oil pan, and now it has to be replaced. He told me it would cost $639. The price tag included a second oil change, which he kindly discounted understanding my situation. I called Valvoline and told the manager the story, and he told me he couldn’t negotiate with me unless one of his mechanics looked at it. I called my mechanic who had not yet started the work on it. He literally stopped servicing it so I could drive it over, or so Valvoline could even come over and look at it independently. I called Valvoline again and talked with the manager. He told me not to even bother. He said he would not compensate me or even refund me for the bad oil change because another mechanic had even touched it. “How do I know he didn’t cause the problem?” he said. In my head I was thinking, “If I gave it to you first, how do I know that you weren’t going to mess with it? I mean, you’re the one that freaking broke my oil pan!” He said he won’t work with me, so now I am left paying $720 to change my oil and fix the repairs caused by Valvoline.

Alex, Rico, and Connor were so lovely to me. I felt very grateful and relieved to have the car serviced by them. They were transparent, kind, and thoughtful. I will definitely bring my car back to get the cabin filter and tires rotated. Additionally I think my tire pressure sensor needs replaced. The experience I had with them makes me feel I can go back there and get a competitive price with some nice and trusted professionals. I’m grateful for that!

They are great! Explain everything, but not in a talking down to you level. Made sure to clarify everything so there were no surprises. Didn't push to do the things they suggested might need doing that would run the price up. Staff friendly and polite. Can't recommend enough! Price very reasonable.

Normally I have a great experience at this location and rave about their courtesy and quickness. However, I didn't take my car this time but my husband did. I have been many times before getting the same basic oil change. He told the technician just do whatever she's (me) has done in the previous visits. Technician did not do basic, he did full synthetic which twice as much. I do not like being taken advantage of and this is how businesses lose my trust.
